There are no pointless lines in drawing.
Everything is drawn or place there for a reason.
I feel that I need to know those reasons. Copying can only get me so far, before I burn myself out, trying to find an answer that's not being given.

Finding the style you want to rise to greatness with is one thing, but you have to know why the style looks the way it does, yes?

Oh, this is makes me feel very happy~

Epiphany.
Everything does have a reason. I like how it really emphasizes up close (when zoomed in), how there were only a few basic lines and little shading to the original sketch, and then the neatly colored and shaded it in. Very good.
In this case, their reasoning for such minimal sketch lines was so that they could color it in neater and have an easier time blending in whatever computer program they were using. There was the basic dashes for shading here and there, to convey depth and shape, but the lion's work was done in a computer program. So...like a ten minute sketch, then fifteen hours in photoshop, for example.
You can logic your way through much of style, I'm sure.

It seems you're well versed in the art world~
