Rental Plots are just what they sound like. They are plots you buy (there are 3 different sizes), and place in your resort, and your friends can offer to build something on those plots, and you both share in the profits.
For example, I have three plots on mine. My friends have built Bungaloos and Sun Centers on those plots. I didn't have to pay for the building of those buildings, but I get some of the profit from them being on my resort.
Different size plots allow different buildings to be built.
