So I was thining about it, what should happen to the embryos and fetuses that occur from abortion?

Let's not turn this into a "Should abortion happen arguement" as of right now it's legal, so let's focus on the question at hand.

Personally I think that if it's a first trimester abortion 0-12 weeks, it should just be disposed of properly, you can't just give internal goop to people who don't know what to do with it.

However seccond trimester abortions, espically when its later, I think the fetus should be given to the parents, or they shodld have the option of taking it and giving it a burial or cremation.

for the most part the stuff that is viable goes to save lives. the other stuff is usually burned as medical waste.
They should be given a public burial.

At whose expense though? I don't think that someone who didn't want the expense of a child (ANY expense, not just monetary, it takes a lot to raise a child) is going to want the expense of a burial/cremation. And, having to bury two grandparents in the last 3 years, I can tell you that that burials are ******** expensive. We are still trying to get together enough money to buy a headstone (although that has more to do with a feud beween my mother and my aunt).

Who has to pay for this?

Give the remains to a local church, especially a Catholic Church.

I'm not saying that they should be given elaborate coffins, headstones, etc. Hell, just put them in a jar and bury that. I don't care. I am just saying that they should be given the public ceremony, if only to stir up the emotional outrage against Roe v. Wade.

Barry, that's still ******** expensive. The cheapest coffin was over $300, and for cremation, in my province, if not all of Canada, you MUST creamate someone in a container, the cheapest one being basically corrugated cardboard and costing over 50 dollars. Then there's the plot itself and space. How many churches do you know that would dish out serious money per aborted fetus.

Of course there's always pauper's graves, but then taxpayers pay for it.

Outrage? I'd be outraged that I have to pay extra to specially dispose of medical waste because the government wanted to make a few people uncomfortable. Which would only cause me to vote against that proposal, not endorse it.

Hm...well I suppose they shouldn't necessarily be buried insofar as being put in the earth is concerned, but assuredly, at least cremated and given the ceremony. No?

Consider this:

If people were actually to see what abortion really means, and were to see the effects of abortion each and every time someone has one. How much longer do you think that abortion would be socially acceptable?

I've seen the pictures Barry. Yet I'm still pro-choice. Funny that.

You know, charities have been using this concept for years. Show people the shitty conditions, get more money. However, you can still just turn the marathon off. Of course charity is the big thing right now, but I attribute that more to Bono than to the pictures of starving Africans.

You are. But what about the loads of people who are on the fence?

What about the loads of people who can afford to pay that 50 cents a day to feed a Honduran and still turn the TV off?

I don't mean to generalize, but people can be pretty apathetic about s**t that isn't directly affecting them. I was watching Glenn Beck a few weeks ago (because even I need a good laugh now and again) and a guest mentioned that, at this point, hearing that 10 000 people died in a mudslide in Indonesia doesn't even phase him anymore. I really can't say that forcing taxpayers to pay for these burials will do anything more than cause those taxpayers to vote against the bill, because they simply don't want to pay for it.
The price of burial/cremation should be given to the parents as part of the abortion cost.

THAT'S a good idea!!!

You are teh awesome! heart

I'm with this *****.
What's wrong with harvesting what stem-cells possible and discarding the rest?

Any fetus at a legal age for abortion isn't a thinking, breathing person yet. Giving the remains to a church for burial strikes me a very crass and inappropriate.

And billing the mother is just horrible. Can you imagine the trauma of not only aborting your child, but then paying for its burial as well?

Nevermind the fact that a Woman who was raped being forced to pay for both the Abortion AND a grave plot is beyond cruelty.
