In the beginning, this world full of unimaginable things lived alongside the mystery that are called True Runes. The True Runes hold such immense power, that they are often sought by kings, emperors, and other secret organizations, which has ultimately led to many, many wars throughout the ages. The power of the twenty-seven True Runes made this world a battlefield, inhabitants and rune-bearers as pawns.
Unknowingly, the True Runes made minor emanations of themselves. With the number of possible runes increasing, this made people greedier, wanting a rune of their own. The unending bloodshed didn't end for centuries. Order and harmony did not seem possible until there comes a time when people had enough of wars and clashes for the power brought about these magical entities. The time when the Gate Rune XXVII Academy (to non-bearers, it is read as Ere Gaunt XXVII Academy, an anagram of the real name) was founded by the bearer of one of the True Runes called Gate Rune, a True Rune with the power to connect worlds.
However, chaos came over the Academy. It was a dark era for the Academy. Order was restored, though, through the splitting of the Gate Rune by the owner and giving the two runes on two of the founder's most trusted apprentices. Alas, peace was restored. Generation after generations, the Academy is watched over by two Headmasters. And time after time, the runes and the rune-bearers are not known by all anymore. Society changed and runes are not the makers of the future.
Even so, the runes are still existing until the present time. Not one soul knows when history will repeat itself.
