Kikyo is too mature for him. Too serious. Kagome is a better partner since their personalities are closer.

Kikyou's dead now. Kagome will die off in 50 years because she's mortal, and now that she's currently living in the feudal era of Japan, I'm sure there's bound to be sicknesses left and right. Life expectancy was short during those times. Should she have stayed in her present time, she probably could've added 10-15 years to that 50, and be less prone to malaria and the likes.
