Tell them to piss off then. I left school some years ago but seriously, they have no reason whatsoever to make you participate in the event in any way, including watching it.

You may get into trouble and the teacher may try to make excuses as to why it's 'super important I mean it's the royal family oh gosh' but in the end if you don't care, you don't care. They can't make you care either.
