There was actually suppose to be more singing in the movie, there were lots of songs in the book, which is what brought the attention to all the hoards coming at them. Makes more sense right?
Great movie. Yet if you ask me, I say the elves are brutal but graceful, and dwarves are graceful, but brutal on how they do it. It's confusing, but like you saw in the movie, they don't always make good fighters surprisingly. I mean, look at Legolas and what he did with the Oliphant. Graceful, but BRUTAL!
As for the dwarves, they like to sing a lot more then most races, and they do it powerfully and with much might, they took on countless of orcs and half-trolls with their brutality, yet they are more workers then fighters, they get thrown around left and right like a hacky sack. Poor little guys.
