Welcome to Toccoa, a small town located approximately an hour from New York City. There's nothing odd about Toccoa, no vampires or werewolves or cannibalistic serial killers lurking in the shadows or living among the citizens. It's just a small town in New York, nothing flashy, but it's home to the stars of our story: four families all conveniently located on Balboa Street. Most of the families have been constants in the neighborhood for years, and aside from a few of the newer faces, the younger folks on Balboa have grown up together and attended the same schools all of their lives. Balboa's the street where there's always some sort of social event going on, be it a barbecue at someone's house or a birthday party you have to attend in order to be polite, and being unsociable doesn't tend to go over well. So put on your big kid pants and go spend some time out in the neighborhood before someone starts spreading rumors you've died or something.

literacy and posting:

- proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar are you friends.
- if you need a label, this roleplay's more lit. break than anything. so quality > quantity, and if you need an amount to stick to, try and make sure posts are at least 400 words.
- there's no set amount of times you have to post a week. just try to post enough to keep things moving.
- if you want out, tell me. i don't bite! unless you want me to.


applying:

- first come, first serve.
- fill out the reserve and pm it to me with the title as the family the character belongs to.
- once that's been accepted, send me your completed profile with the title as the character's preferred name.


characters:

- celebs and models are loved, but you can use whoever you want. i'd prefer you use a face claim with better quality pictures, though, and avoid scene kids.
- try to make sure your character at least looks their age.
- all sexualities/genders/races/nationalities/etc. are welcome. not everybody has to be white, and if you're the first person to apply for a family, feel free to make the family a race other than white.
- you can have as many characters as you can handle, but let's try to keep the genders equal.
- speaking of which, most roles don't have genders assigned, so you can play them as whatever you want.


other:

- keep it pg-13, no godmodding, blah blah blah. you should know this stuff by now.
- try to be active in the ooc. talking to your fellow rpers is half the fun, y'know.

These two lovely ladies met in college and started dating not long after. After a few happy years together, they decided that something was missing from their family. The two decided to have a child, and while they briefly considered adopting one, they eventually came to the decision that artificial insemination was the way to do it. Thanks to a donation from a male friend of theirs, Lacey gave birth to their first and only child. It's been a couple years since then, and the family's happy as can be. However, recently Lacey started wanting to have another child. mother one didn't exactly shoot the idea down when Lacey suggested it, but she did say that she doesn't think now's a good time for them to have another kid.

The Grahams have always been the picture perfect family. The mother and father are high school sweethearts who grew up in Toccoa and never left their hometown, instead settling down and having three darling children. They're the parents who always seem to be talking about how great their family is, and they seem to have every reason to. The Graham kids have been raised under strict rules, complete with everything from curfews to chores and being forced into extra curricular activities at a young age, and know exactly what's expected of them. Whether or not they're actually everything their parents build them up to be is questionable, though, since Felix is off at college now and therefore harder for his/her parents to control. As for the younger two, well, kids have always found a way to sneak around behind their parents' backs. And if the kids aren't behaving, who can blame them? Their mother has hardly been a shining example of good behavior lately, as her husband recently found out that she's been having an affair with a coworker. Understandably, she and Mr. Graham's relationship is currently on the rocks as a result, and they're supposed to start couples therapy in January.

The Munroes have been a constant in the neighborhood since the '90s, when Julius and his partner moved in with their adopted child. Unfortunately, the other Munroe father passed away in early 2004, cutting their trio down to two. With Lincoln off living his own life, the Munroe household was down to one member for quite some time. That changed almost a year ago when Benvolio moved in with Julius, much to Lincoln's displeasure. The two have been dating for approximately three years now, but Lincoln still doesn't approve of Benvolio. But money's tight for Lincoln right now and moving back in with his father seemed like the logical thing for him and Meadow to do, so feelings about Benvolio have been (mostly) put aside for the time being. Lincoln and Meadow moved in at the start of the month.

The newest additions to the neighborhood, the Morrisons moved in about two months ago. They're originally from Berkeley, California but moved here to be closer to Marcus's aging parents. Angelique is unable to have biological children, but both she and Marcus wanted a family. Both of their two children are adopted.

hello, hello, hello! today is saturday, december 16.

the weather outside is cold and cloudy with a 60% chance of snow.

the kids recently got out of school for winter break and won't go back until january 8th.

the annual holiday party/potluck dinner at the grahams will be starting not long from now, so you might want to start getting ready for that if you haven't already. as usual, all the neighbors have been invited and are expected to contribute a dish. it's a casual event, so there's no need to get all dolled up unless you're trying to impress someone
