HE, A PRIVATEER!
Takeshi was born just over 705 years ago on the big blue aboard a merchant ship. His parents were traders by trade, his father worked on the sea moving between trade ports whilst his mother traded on land. For the reason why Takeshi was born on the merchant ship, trade became poor causing them to source further a field in order to make ends meet. Things did not go as smoothly as expected as the ship was attacked by pirates in order to be raided. The only slight problem was that there was nothing too raid. Angered by this, the captain ordered his parents death and the ship to be sunk. Takeshi survived the encounter only to work as a cabin boy swabbing the decks day after day for the smallest morsel of food. The endless days started when he was little older than 6 years old and was shunned upon. There was a reason behind this however, the captain had lost his son due to being sickly at birth. Seeing it as a chance to have him own son, he took Takeshi on board but lacked the knowledge and compassion to look after him.
Years passed, Takeshi picked up the pirating ways from watching the other crew on board. It started with nothing more than getting into fights with crew members for food often leaving him no food at all rather than his morsel of food. It was never that he was hungry, it was the thrill of the fight and the gamble he took in order to get more food to store away for the days where he received none. Little did he know this would start the beginning of his gambling addiction causing his to take much riskier and daring moves. The most notable of these was during a fight with another pirate ship where the crew he was sailing on was heavily losing lacking in numbers. Despite being in his early teens, he took hold of a pair of rapiers which once belonged to a member of the crew who was now drowning in a pool of red. The die was already cast, die and have a chance of fending them off or waiting for his inevitable fate. There was no to little choice in it, and expecting the same treatment again was naivety in his mind. The crew never left anyone alive after beating them thus expected the same from the other crew. Wielding the rapiers with a tight grip, he rushed into the battle head first. What he lacked in experience with the blades, he picked up as he went almost akin to how he held the mop buckets when he swabbed the deck. The fighting style was far from a huge threat however he had on thing on his side. At such a young age and the way he wielded the blades along with his movements caught them off guard.
This inevitably lead to a win for the crew however with heavy loses. The captain of the ship died shortly after finishing off the other crew with a wound to his heart. Sea burials was given to the crew members who died, including those of the other crew on Takeshi's words respecting the captain's final words of passing on the role of captain to him. He wasn't captain for long however, only long enough to reach dry land where the ship and contents was sold off and the booty claimed was distributed between them whilst Takeshi took a smaller part of the riches from the booty, but the whole amount for the ship. From there, he paid to be trained to fight using a small part of the money left to him by night, by day he worked on the fields earning him a place to stay and a meal. It built up his physical strength but also skill over time but eventually found himself short on money. Using what little he had left to buy clothing and a pair of uchigatana from a foreign trader before he set out looking for work as part of a crew. He had looked at working on land a number of times but he never felt he was at home. Aged 15, Takeshi joined a crew working and building on his skills. What didn't go unnoticed was the lack of his cut of the booty which when he asked was merely explained it was due to his age. Even after speaking out about it, he was ignored and simply overlooked resorting in Takeshi for looking for other routes to take.
The answer to it? It was to gamble his cut for other people's cut which rapidly resulted in his cut more than tripling. It started as a need but turned into addiction getting a kick from it when he won, with big time lows when he lost. There was very few times when he ever lost a bet which varied from day to day. One day would be poker, where as another was how far away they was from the port. Most of these was guesses, calculations and pure trickery however there was a number of times he used his ability ecological empathy. He was however unaware of using it and seemingly assumed it was his luck along with his gut that was never wrong. The more he used his luck and gut, the stronger his abilities became before spiraling out of control. Fish, algae, mold, changes in weather to angling fish and nursing shark on the bottom of the ocean. The in flood of information was too much for him leaving him with migraines. As a result, he lost his job as part of the crew and was returned to land. Losing his ability to do the job he loved, he was forced to put it aside and find a job on land. At ends meets, he took a job as a bar tender that Davy later inherited. What he lacked in knowledge he made up for but also dealt with the pesky customers throwing them out when they became too rowdy. He made both enemies and friends through this along with a steady pay to pay his gambling addiction often buying the down and outs a drink before sending them on their way out of his own pocket.
When the bar became bankrupt, Takeshi was left without a job however he grew fearful of returning to the sea. For that reason, he did not join Davy when he left and resorted to work on any job he could get from carrying goods from the docks to stores to rat exterminating. Within time, it grated on him little longer than two weeks. Within in that time, he heard of Davy's exploits and a crew intending to join with Davy. Taking a gamble, he joined them and met up with Davy's crew. Now older and much more adapted to using his ability with being conscious of it, it was much more bearable for him having become aware of it. He did however keep it hidden unsure of the reaction he would receive, half expecting to be mocked from it. Despite knowing how dangerous Davy and his crew was he didn't back down until the very end even after seeing the rest of the crew slain. On his last legs, he struggled on wards beaten and worn out until he passed out. At that time, Takeshi thought he was dead but for some reason he awoke on the ship and was offered a place among the crew. At first he thought it had been a joke but soon realized it wasn't and took the offer. Whether he was welcomed or not, he didn't care about, his debt only belonged to the captain for his life. He was unhappy about the debt and took some time to warm up to the crew often avoiding them unless ordered otherwise.
Takeshi was unaware of the deal he made with Poseidon however the change of ships raised questions with him but his lips remain snap shut. Over time he grew to know more about the deal seeing nothing good coming out of the end of it. Rather than think about it, he thought of ways out of his debt however the only answer that rang right in his ears was offering his life in place of Davy's. It wasn't something he was about to do creating an endless circle in his mind which was disrupted when he was cursed turned into the undead. In truth, he had half expected it gathering information on shore when they stocked for supplies and all hands pointed in the same direction. The outcome which came to pass. Takeshi could have told him but he didn't, he felt his words would fall on deaf ears and never spoke of it. Probably the only hint that he knew what would happen was the parlor table he brought at a port. Using barrels was fine but a table allowed much trickier tricks to be played. Cards however didn't survive and was soon left with a number of die which he can often be found throwing in the air perched off the side of the ship.
HE, A PIRATE!
What's important to a gambling addict, money or the thrill of taking it for his own? The answer in Takeshi's case was the thrill of winning robbing his target for what he or she is worth. Who the target was didn't matter to him in the slightest, even if it was the captain himself. You could quite happily say that the captain had brought it upon on himself for the lack of cut of the booty. He was furious with his cut from the booty, however rather than burn out in rage he spent his energy planning behind his back. Why risk getting accused of mutiny when he could use it to gamble the rest of the booty? Thrill seeking rather than greed, it mattered little to him about the cut of the booty. The main reason behind this was that he was undead, what luxuries could he have? Food? Drink? Company? They meant nothing to him when he couldn't enjoy two thirds of them and the third, it was deemed pointless to him. Not aging and bound to servitude, where oh where was the time to spend with someone going to come from.
A few days later, he had planned exactly what to do and how exactly to get the biggest gamble and humor out of it. He started by gambling with the other crew members with a portion of his bounty. It increased each time with a cut from what he won from the crew members never leaving him without something to gamble with. It was nothing more complicated than a game of blackjack acting as the dealer. In his position, he his ratio for winning was higher which the crew realized after a few days. The only problem with it was that it was too late as he had won the largest proportions of the booty close to the captain's cut. Takeshi wasn't happy with that however, he then approached the captain offering the same betting game only the captain had become wise to his ways. As a result, the captain had worked out a way to beat Takeshi at his own game, however Takeshi changed the game. Being boastful he agreed before hearing Takeshi's words about the change in what they was betting on. He had changed the bet to the next days weather. Each decided on a type of weather before waiting for the next day, with the captain safe in his mind he had won.
The next day came and was met with a cry from the captain, a mix of surprise, terror and utter amazement. Takeshi stirred hearing the voice and chuckled under his breath holding his arms behind his head turning onto his back. Takeshi had chosen snow, one of the unlikeliest of weathers, however as he predicted it was snowing. The air conditions, positioning on the sea along with calculating when the weather would arrive, you could technically say he cheated. Usually he didn't go that far to win a bet however the captain had cheated on him. It was nothing more than just desserts. The captain didn't give up his booty that easily and blagged him off, assuming that Takeshi wouldn't dare take it from him and saw it as merely a game, and Takeshi didn't. With the prize of a cut of the captain's bounty, he gathered people to his side forming conspiracies and later on mutiny. Within three days, the captain was dead and cast overboard with those still loyal to the captain whilst Takeshi and the rest of the crew rolled in riches.
