Alchemy Q&A
There's been a lot of feedback on alchemy lately, and we wanted to set up a Q&A on it to try and address some concerns that have been raised.
(We wanted to do a Fireside Chat for this, but the provider that we use was not comfortable with the potential load, so we'll try this a little differently.)

Official Q&A Thread for alchemy. To try and keep this manageable, please check the thread before posting your question -- if you see the question you were going to ask, go ahead and tip it. We'll be looking at tip counts as a gauge of the questions that are most important to the community.
In the OP, I've tried to summarize some of the fundamentals of alchemy. Be warned that our crack writing staff has not gone over my post, so please make allowances for my poor phrasing. If you read something in the OP and are getting angry about it, it is probably my bad writing; alchemy is, fundamentally, something cool, and we hope that people will agree after we answer questions.
