I fear the upcoming Halo contest ending. I'm scared for the user, because he or she might get flooded with lots of PMs with beggars, scammers and flamers. I fear the GCD and SF will get flooded with threads talking about that person and how unfair it was that he or she won.

I'm not so scared for Gaia because this site has gone through worse crap, but targeting a single human being is just a bit too much. The thing I wonder is, will we as a community be strong enough to resist throwing negative attention to the winner? Or will we keep going to attempt to break this person's will for our own self-satisfaction?

I hope that they don't give out the name of the winner. That way the only way the userbase could know that they won is if they going posting all over the forums about it. If they do that then they are offering themselves up for spam.

it would be nice (and smart) if they wont announce who wins.

Agreed, if I won it I'd probably sell it since I'd never use it, then use the outrageous amount of gold I get to buy myself some stuff and spread around some donations.

Hopefully they will not announce the winner. I'd feel very bad for that person being filled with PMs asking for donations and people trying to hack him/her if they don't switch to "Friends Only". D:
