There are threads about it ya know *sigh*
You need to carol 5 times before recieving a gift. You can't carol more than once to the same NPC. It seem that gifts are given in relation of the district/town you got them and the last person you sang to. The color of the ribbon changes depending of the town of the NPC, and the name written on it is the last NPC you sang to.
