I don't know if I wrote it down on here, but I had an idea for a bandit doing that while the princess was on her way to meet her betrothed. Having some grudge, I think he was secretly a prince that'd been banished by his half brothers mother or something like that...

Aw but then you wouldn't be a pirate? Are you sure about doing that?
The great thing about it would then be - spoiler alert - plot twist when she finds out he's royalty too! da da dunnn. So that's up to you to decide, combining the two ideas (Pirate in love with the princess, and he kidnaps her) or your bandit idea. I'm up for either~

Oh, aye, I can do either though. I love playing the role of pirate, and combining works as well. I was mostly relating the general idea I had. The banished prince playing pirate works as well, its just crossing in to his territory and attacking a ship rather than a carriage. It could even be something like the princess's betrothed sent her a ship to escort her so he attacked it partially just causing trouble for his estranged family.
