I've done this plot a lot, but I haven't done it with 50's feminism.
Do you write in first person?
I think it'd be really interesting if we did it like that, but if you dont like
to write in first person, that's cool too.
What if the two had some sort of swinger type relationship, and something happened
where he had gotten really drunk and made out with / had sex with
the guy in the other couple? Because of that, he could get kicked out of the military
so maybe whenever he tries to play the "well you're my wife, so do what I say"
she pulls the "oh really because no," since she can get his job
taken from him?
that was just the first thought I had. haha

I love that idea ! I like the whole 1950 twist because yeah,
Women were treated more like housewives and the man made mostly
all the decisions. I be down to write in first person. I like that she would have dirt on
him to blackmail him but I see that as most of their marriage, maybe she can't leave him because she has no where else to go, no family or close enough friends to help her. So marrying the solider could have been more for her getting stable than anything and he knows he has the upper hand with that. Maybe the baby is not his since they swing too. So lot of drama for the 1950's
