my profile background broke and now it's stuck on some stupid gaia background instead of my clockwork one.

The URL has spaces in it, which breaks the CSS. You have to put your URL inside single quotes ( ' ' ) to prevent this, and you probably should always put URLs in your CSS quotes for the sake of validity.

background: url('your url') ;
}
This is actually kinda starting to make sense, where did you get all this profile info anyway, you make it sound so easy.

I know a fair amount about CSS, which I then apply to profiles. I learned CSS primarily from W3Schools
(which isn't the best reference, especially for more advanced and strict CSS, but I didn't know that when I learned most of my CSS knowledge) and from experimenting with already-made code both on Tumblr with blog themes and here on Gaia with profiles. I also spend a lot of time here in the Profile Discussion helping people solve their profile problems, so I get used to dealing with profile-specific problems. Basically, because of practice, I've pretty much memorized most of my CSS and profile-specific knowledge, so, where did I get all this profile info? My memory

But actually, once you learn it and get used to it, it can be pretty easy. It's like learning a foreign language, except fortunately there aren't really that many grammar rules. It's just vocabulary and usage.
