you can keep most common pet snakes in a 55gal for life, honestly. :3
i'll have to upgrade my little guy's when he's older. he's not even a year yet and he needs the 55gal.
i'll give you a list and some pics of my favorite less common pet snakes.
the western hognose:
burrowers who do well being left alone for a bit and still being "tame".
biting is their absolute last resort and if they do strike at you it'll likely be a feint,
it will keep its mouth shut and just headbutt you. they have hilarious defense
techniques, such as flattening the neck and hissing to sound like a cobra,
and rolling over to play dead. 2-3 feet adult size. + cute little piggy snout!!
the green tree python:
best handled for short periods of time and when well fed, as they do have quite large
fangs (they catch birds in the wild), though they're not particularly known to bite. wonderful
to observe, they go through drastic color changes from hatchling to adult. they prefer to
climb up to and coil on one branch, and that's likely the last time you'll see them move for awhile.
pretty cool to feed as well, as they strike from the branches.
& the corn snake:
perhaps not as uncommon, but i think people underestimate their cute little personalities!
you'll probably spend a lot of time chasing yours though, they don't really cling to your when
you hold them, they gogogogogo! that's part of why they're so funny though. they're also
really cheap for beautiful colors! that blizzard up there ^ is only $45.
stop eatin' other people's old french fries, pigeon, have some self respect, don't you know you can fly?
