Not quite. If you open the trade before you saw the PM, you might not understand as clearly. Also, sometimes the trades move so fast, I don't have time to PM the explanation before the person has taken action on the trade. And it's nice to have the note WITH the trade. Gaia finds three different ways of telling us a friend request has been made, you'd think this would be easy and actually useful to some people!
