Welcome to Gaia! ::

::Roaming the environment, he would come to a halt as he sensed abnormalities approaching. Tilting his cranium upwards, the nose itself begun to twitch as the scent lingers towards the nostrils. Whatever the type of person they are, this type of approach was vaguely familiar when remembering the last time he felt something like this head his way. He already knew the people around here would be near the source or the source itself would draw nearer.::

Matthew decided that, seeing that there was a lot more company than expected, it would be best that Yusuke switched places with him. The ominous mist surrounding the dojo did not seem to have much to do with the newcomer, who was already using some sort of combination of energies to warp reality around him. He was familiar with these sort of abilities and their pitiful conceptions based in the user's belief that they held supreme control over existence. It was time to show him that he was threatening the wrong people.

"Urameshii," said Matthew, "Leave the newcomer to me. In the meanwhile, you should keep your eyes open for that incoming mist and any other presences that have made themselves known here."

Slowly, Matthew walked down the steps towards the winding tendrils emitting from the spherical aura emanating from the newcomer. Matthew's eyes were not decieved at all. He could note the intricate weaving and combinations of ki, psi, and mana around the sphere. By connecting the flow of energies to his thought processes by use of psionic tendrils emanating through the multi-energy barrier, the man within the sphere would be able to alter reality through the combined energies as if it were a cybernetic uplink...depending o the target.

What a dishonorable maneuver. Matthew would have much rathered a sword fight without all of the songs and dances, but it seemed as if simple things wouldn't cut it. Nevertheless, Matthew was not without his own resources.

"Hm...mana...psi...ki...all of them energies of the body and mind to a degree," said Matthew, "And yet the body and mind sadly fall short of spirit. This technique of yours can bend reality to your will, but do you truly believe that existence itself is on your side? Shoushi!"

He slowly unsheathed Muramasa, his strongest blade. But what could he possibly do with what seemed to be a normal Japanese sword. Unlike most swords, the mystical properties of the blade allowed him to use it as a conduit for the energies he himself wielded. He held the blade out in front of himself as he pressed against the blunt edge and ran his hand down the blade, covering the sword in a burning blue aura of spirit energy. However, spirit energy wasn't the only thing able to be sensed from the blade. The spirit energy had with it an incredibly searing feeling of righteousness about it, as if there was an aspect to it that gave it more protection than normal spirit energy. But that wasn't enough, was it?

No...but that was not all. Azrael had taught him in the ways of the reapers and their own abilities concerning planes of existence and dimension. In order to seperate the souls of the dead from their bodies, reapers had to cleave through the dimensional fabric that bound those souls using a specific empyrean energy designed for severing such links. Originally, Matthew was only able to utilize such abilities through Transcendent form. But through enough training, he had learned how to harness this power without needing to be in his transformed state. It was at that moment that the blue spectral flames on his blade began to turn red, and the blade itself shone an incredibly bright red.

Matthew did not want to use this as a fighting maneuver, but merely to show his opponent that using such seemingly infallible maneuvers could prove to put him at a disadvantage compared to a much more straightforward fight.

"It is time I showed you the wrath of He who really controls reality!" he said as he lifted the blade above his head and brought it down on one of the psionic tethers that was rooting itself through the ground so that he'd have a secure target while keeping aware of the other tethers in the area. Rather than sticking to the target to allow his opponent to alter the reality of his sword, the aura surrounding the blade opposed the psionic wavelength, thus protecting it. Furthermore, due to the blade being used as a conduit for this opposing energy, the blade would cut through the dimensional fabric that held the psi together, severing the tendril and causing the psionic energy on the cut off end to disippate. The recoil from the severance would send psionic feedback back to the man within the aura, the backlash causing enough discomfort for alarm, as if he could actually use this technique in some way to inflict pain through some alteration.

His opponent would probably not have expected that Matthew had some means by which he could counter such an apocalypic force. Then again, dealing with apocalyptic forces was within Matthew's line of duty, as was Yusuke's. Perhaps noticing the flaw in his reality alteration technique would spur him to use his powerful energies for direct combat rather than sneaky maneuvers. Strategy was not a game to be played with against Matthew.

Matthew then raised a hand in front of his face in some sort of Buddhist gesture as something began to change in his eyes...mostly along the irises. At the moment it was too far away to truly notice, but if his opponent's eyesight was as perfect as he expected, he would be able to notice that his irises had turned black, his pupils white, and the kanji for the phrase "kongou kengo" or "adamantine". "You hide powerful weapons within your clothing," he said, hinting that he was able to notice the hidden weaponry he had. It must have been because of what he did with his eyes, "Yet you disrespect me by trying to do away with us with an apocalyptic maneuver that will not have the desired effect you've been seeking. Come...show me you have more of a warrior's spirit."

((And very much appreciated, too. ^^ For a second I thought we were being outnumbered.))
::Body adjusting towards the right with his feet being even with the broad shoulders, the audible effect of cold steel sliding along a metalic surface was the knuckle busters being unsheathed into full possession. This position have an even flow of energies. Mana, ki are the two things he would use most and this would have him build up a strong defense along the flshy exterior. Once both arms rest along the side of his strapping frame, the flow released a burst of air from the hidden aura to nearly making a distant wave that would stretch quarter mile from himself. This effect would have the wind blow things slightly heavier than itself, in other words. If there was mist meeting the set distance, it would simply begin to be blown away.::
The mists continue to move forward. The speed at which they move, however, increases. It is as if the attempt to force it back through magical or energy based means had angered either the force or the controller of the force. The blood-red 'streams' increase in intensity at a rate faster than they were before, many of them beginning to converge upon the offender. For the most part, they simply continue the slow crawl towards the dojo. To view from the top of the steps leading to the dojo, it would appear that about half the forests surrounding have been covered in this creeping mist. That, of course, means there should still be some time before the mists 'close' in on the dojo.
Roy would let it go, the psionic tethes being cut. he could counter it via the tethers themselves, but saw his opponet wished to have a battle among blades, something he would not dissapoint him in.

But first, their was a matter of the boy playing the flute to take care of. Due to the thought energy literally fused itno the realital superstrings tied to his will, allowing him to merely use force of will to alter reality. He manipulate the ki field he had procudes linked to his relfexes to act in a way that it would be thrown around the boy, using psionical manipulation to alter the structure so that it would merely distenegrate anything material it encoutnered due to its high amount of radiating and ciruclate power, its concentration level, and the fact that Roy was direction his influence that was absorbign energy and power from other planes of exstance and channelign it into the ki field allowing it to reach power beyond comprehension in a mere instant. This would be manipulated so that if it encoutnered ki of a sort, it would self regulate and self sustain itself to convert it due to its infusement property in which Roy would alter it to have. It would infuse and expand inside he core of any ki or energy signature and thus corrupt it so that it would merely be decayed as it was filtered through magic before a new signature was implanted tied to roy's mind. He would then cause the foreign energy or whatever now under his control to merely cease to exist, assumign this would all happen as planned. If not he would just have it materialize around the boy's body as several explosions of charged combating energy and ki would be infused around the boy in the field causing distortion, raw and wild magic and ki to be released, and explosions to shround the boy mixed in with a sudden constriction of this deadly ki.

Now if this didn't go as planned he would deal with it, but now he had an opponet.

"Good luck, may the best man win." Roy hissed to his opponet bearing the blade as he reached into his cloak and grasped the hilt with his gauntlet hand around a blade referred to as Ketsueki. It was constructed of AEX, a product in which Roy's hoemworld Azo created. AEX is Diamond, Boron Nitride, Ultrahard fullerite, Silicon Carbide, Borazon, and Azorian minerals fused together and metled down before infused with magic and mana to bond it together and give it properties such as resistance to electrogametnism, extreme temperatures, rust, energy, and other things in which Roy could manipulate the structure to withstand. The materials are blended together so that the toughness of each substance will be used together and build off of eachother, aided by magic, thus the final product will be as if each substance layered on top of eachother. In summary, AEX is as strong as all of the other materials seperated and stacked on top of eachother in their strognest form.

This AEX constructed blade was a chromic color, and was a kami katana. It could cut through diamond based upon the material it was made of, and thus could most likely cut through this man's blade. Roy held the hilt of Ketsueki as it was sheathed and on his obi, Roy placing his left foot shoulder with as his right foot was a bit ahead and also shoulder width. He would focus as ki and power kept siphoning from oher areas and existances, roy absorbing it and channelign a bit into Ketsueki. He would wait for his opponet to make the first move.
"If you want him, go and get him," Yusuke responds, looking over the edge, seeing some mist making its way toward the them.

"What...the....hell?"

He had no idea what was going on, but again, he could only make a few assumptions, one of them being that the newcomer had done this. So this was the source of that "voidness" he felt eariler. Just great. He kept his eyes on it, wondering what the hell it was doing here. Just then, some demon appears out of the trees, screaming in pain as the mist went over it, his body composition melting away. Yusuke's eyes went wide upon seeing this, wondering what this rising mist really was.

"Alright, if they want to play like that, then let's play," he says to himself. He claps his hands together, and closes his eyes.

"Rei Guard!"

In that instant, a light blue shield of ki transpires over the dojo in a dome shape, trapping Yusuke, Matt, Roy, and the flute-bearer within, using it as a barrier for now against the incoming mist. Now, hopefully, Matt's battle would not go interrupted.
~ Some Unknown Location ~

"Damn it, can't I spend a few goddamn years out here in peace!? ******** ******** ******** with reality all over that goddamned plane of 'Gaia', making one of my ******** jobs more annoying when I have another nasty job or three to deal with! ******** 'EM ALL! And nooooo, they can't just ******** give it a strum or two, they have to hook it on their goddamn sleeve and carry it around all day long ******** IDIOTS!"

A sigh echoes throughout the darkness.

"At this rate, I'm going to wear a hole through the goddamned Realm with all the times I have to keep leaving in that particular direction. Better set up the goddamned limiters, I guess. And ooh, wonderful, a ******** barrier!"

~ Fifty Feet Above the Dome of the Rei Guard ~

A slight depression in reality begins to form, manifesting visually as a slight dark spot.
Normally, a barrier of manifest energy would do nothing to deter these mists. Not that Yusuke, or anybody else within, would know. This barrier, however, is comprised of both energy of the body and energy of the spirit. Thus, the mists are extremely interested in it. Unbeknownst to Yusuke, these mists have just been provided an outrageous supply of energy.

The smallest trickle of mists seep through the barrier. Not even enough to tell that such an act has occured. This action, however, gives the mists the ability to feed from both ends, so it were. It would appear, to Yusuke standing at the top of the steps leading to the dojo, that a wall of blood-red quickly outlines and begins building just beyond the solid dome created by the Rei Guard, like a Tsunami ready to crash in.

Those within might even see streaks of electricity-like currents running through the darkening mists as they, litterally, feed off the body and spirit energy of the Rei Guard.

The mists, though, seem to ignore the new one. Rather, they gorge themselves on the energy supply coming from the talismons Yusuke activated. Then again, the realital depression simply may not be an intended target, if, indeed, there is a driving force to the mists.

Well, it looked as if his opponent had acknowledged his wish...to some extent. With Matthew's Kongougan, or the strange occurrence with his eyes, his eyes were unable to be decieved. He could see the intention of his attacks through the hadou, or force, around him. The man's sword was made of a compilation of powerful metals, his eye modification allowing him to notice the composition change. Not only that, but the energies he was taking from outside realms were being channeled into the blade. He was intenting to break his sword. That was a foolish thing to think...and it's failure would probably be quite irritating to his opponent.

Matthew kept Muramasa low and to his right side, with the sword tip pointed behind him and his feet held in a triangular arrangement, as it normally was in kenjutsu. His sword, however, was a rather interesting thing in itself. It appeared to be made out of a powerful alloy of steel, silver, and some other metal. However, these fused metals were strengthened by some powerful force...as if it was a force of will. It was if the blade itself was blessed by something reaching far deeper than the planes of exitstence his opponent was drawing his powers from. Alongside that, Matthew was able to channel his energies through the blade as well, strengthening it even more. If their blades clashed, his sword would remain adamant.

Those planes of existence were another thing to be dealt with. Also against the terms of battle, he was still drawing from an unlimited source of energy. Then again, that in itself could prove to be a disadvantage against him. Rather than sever the dimensional ties that were giving him power, he'd wait.

The mist was another problem. He was sure Yusuke would notice this, but the rei guard was begin sapped of its energies. It was as if the mist itself fed upon spirit energy and ki, even though the rei guard was purely spirit energy. It was also tied to the spirit world, so if the talismans holding up the barrier were being drained, Koenma would not be happy in the least. Due to his observations from the assistance he and Yusuke had been getting, attacking it with regular spirit energy or other energies would not deter it...even strengthen it. Matthew could feel the malefic intent through the dark void of the mists, and thus knew a way to prevent its coming and reveal the being controlling them. But he had to deal with his opponent now. He could only hope that Yusuke had another way of dealing with the mists before they crashed in.

Now, it was his turn to show his opponent once again that tricks that would give someone the advantage in a swordfight in spite of skill level would not work on Matthew. He began to run towards his opponent at what appeared to be average, or even below average, human run speed. Was Matthew being foolish? It was as if the young man was not as good of a swordsman as he appeared. What was he planning?
He thought the mist had stopped once it impacted the shield, but when he sees a red coloring start to rise up the shield's side, he became frustuated. "Damn. This thing's persistent."

However, there was something the mist would not be able to do and that was get through the shield and feed upon it. Reason being, the spirit energy from the talisman was said to not be able to be drawn or used by any other, its form and composition merely for defensive purposes. And if one were to somehow absorb them, they will only be absorbing a useless supply of energy, as it does not offer any increase in any supply or enhancements. It would just be there....void, due to no longer being linked to the talismen's will, thus, the energy would just "black out" and dissipate. And the shield's running time was easily compensated for. The spirit world was composed so much energy that it would take one or two milleniums to truly sap it up, therefore, any draining would be useless.
Having already come in contact with Roy's psionical energy, he had the time to understand it. So, he would lower his flute and hold his left hand out with an open palm. A black ball only the size of an infant's finger-nail formed only a couple of inches above his hand. This was a form of his own voidal energy, some-what of a black hole for specified energy I suppose. As soon as Roy attempted to get rid of him with his energy, his energy had come into the Sand-Box, and any alterations in energy signature an other such things would be slowed immensly and be able to be copied by him immediately. So, this little black hole was made specifically for Roy's current energy; and it would suck in his energy that entered the Sand-Box.

" Well, you've got some one else to play with... But don't do anything funny; I'll still be here y'know!~ "

He boy closed his palm after the threat had been dealt with, and his energy signature would disappear as his body would seem to go away; the same would happen with the copy of him.

" Be nice! "
(( Excuse me, could you take ki from other planes? I thought ki was spiritual energy only contained in your body. ))
