You receive a holo message on your deck. You and hundreds of others are invited to a grand battle held in the middle of a mostly unpopulated sector. However, should the battle move to a populated sector, not much can be done to prevent the tide of destruction that would follow.
At the end of it all, either one shall prevail over all and gain fame and power, or the universe will be torn asunder by sheer destructive power. Regardless, either you fight, or the fight will come to you.
So bring your fastest ship, and jam that baby full of bristling firepower and join the battle that will determine the fate of life as we know it!

With that, the holo message ends. You contemplate your next move as your ship shifts into the treacherous warp.

Game Rules! (Pretty damn important)

The important thing to know is the action system. Generate a random number between 1 and 20.

Anything from one to five is a critical failure, getting worse as you get closer to one. This means that you ******** up. Badly. Maybe you failed to activate your shields. Maybe you tried to transport over to another ship and only half of you made it. Flavor it however you want. Five is less bad. One and two result in death or just looking really stupid (depending on your action.)

Anything from six to fifteen is neutral. It's a miss. Nothing happens.

Anything from 16 to 20 is a Critical Success!
Again, lowest is less good, highest is super good. 16 to 19 is a pretty normal success. 20 is a success and then some. Maybe you get something cool out of your success if you get a high enough number. Like shooting at something and not only hitting right on the mark, but the universe glitches and it winds up inside someone's ship. Anything can happen in space.

REMEMBER! You are rolling AGAINST other players.

Example:

Shoots at person - rolled a 17

Person used their shields - rolled a 16

Person who shot wins, but the person who blocked still blocks. Thought something will still happen in collateral to some degree. Though not terribly significant. (They get hit in the face by a space egg.) However, no damage is suffered.

The rule does not apply the same to rolling a 20. Whatever your intent was when you roll a 20, it happens. It's a CRITICAL success. You wanted to blow something up? It doesn't have a choice. It blows up. The same is true of a critical failure of rolling a 1, but the opposite. And you most likely die.

YOU CAN ROLL FOR ANYTHING. Any action, weapon, otherwise.. But also, you MUST roll for anything. Maybe you got hit with an ion weapon. Roll to see if you resist it or not. Maybe you critically fail so hard that it does damage, maybe you success enough that it only affects your ship's toaster.

Rules on being a crew vs being a lone starship. Hit points aren't real. Multiple crew members means multiple actions, limited by reply time. But a ship can only fire its weapons once per ship. Try to keep yourselves organized. Keep in mind, criticals on either side are what determine your survival, success or demise. Anything can happen in space. Don't worry, it's supposed to be hard.

General rules!

Flavor everything any way you want it, I don't care. You want to make a profile? Go for it. You want to design a super sleek ship? Your call. You want to make a bio? Describe your character? Create a meaningful significant story? Go for it. Just follow the system.

No godmod, stick to the rules I've set before you.

No complaining. It's supposed to be hard to hit something in space for ******** sake.

Don't get frisky. Gaia is an appropriate place outside of PMs.

Don't get too descriptive. Flavor with decency.

Don't be an a**.

You know, regular gaia rules.
