I second this idea.
Make some animal's or pets (i.e. Pok'emon) that can do stuff with their owners, or even have their owners turn into the pets if need be without some kind of a potion to have to drink to do it.
Seems like the thing to do and Gaia can call them "Spirit Animals~Pet's."
