it's funny because bmth is actually a good example of one in numerous ways

-because they were and possibly still are hugely popular
-because their music is bad and at least similar to the rest of the genre
-because other bands look like them

Congratulations for showing you know absolutely nothing about music outside what you learned in high school.

I'm not a fan of BMTH by any stretch, however every song is made up of a set amount of notes and can be transcribed into chords, every song. Unless we are talking about harsh noise, power electronics, some industrial or things of that nature (which I doubt you know anything about).

Every song ever made is made up of a set of 7 chords, 14 if you count flats/sharps and variants of those 14 (majors, minors, sevenths, fifths, suspended, etc.)

This song is three chords (and some stacked and 7th variations of them)

This is three or four

chords are the structure of music, they have no bearing on complexity.

BMTH don't have complicated song structures, however by what you posted, there could be nonstop sweep and hybrid or harder yet, travis picking (see the Elliott Smith song) over those chords because that is the key the song is in.

TL;DR you have no real idea what you are talking about, you probably suck at the guitar (I bet you use drop tunings, a ******** lot) and you have an unwarranted sense of self worth.

what the hell does it matter? the best songs in the world follow music theory with chord progressions because they're songs
