Bio: He is the oldest grandson of a powerful Magus in magical society. He has been very gift in his families summoning art since a young age and is poised to take over for his grandfather once he steps down. He decided he wanted to have some average experiences before he was brought fully into his grandfather's inner circle, and so attended an out-of-state school.

Name: Briar Sevier
Age: 20
History: Briar was adopted and never knew her birth family. She has always been good at reading people and is easily frightened by some people but doesn't know why. She has also occasionally been able to sense things before they happen and to move objects without touching them. Briar learned early that other people couldn't do these things so she learned how to act normally. She was a decent student once other kids stopped teasing her, and she got into a good college.

Public knowledge: The Sevier family likes to find people with strange abilities from weak families and will usually choose a particularly talented or unique apprentice to marry the heir in the hopes that the unique abilities the apprentice possesses will be passed through the bloodline to some future child. This is to try to make up for the fact that their "family tradition" is runes and isn't very remarkable or strong. Their enemy is the Evarra family, who drove them into hiding. Marianne predicted a war between the families over a clairvoyant child that would end in the destruction of the Sevier family. Anna and Paul Sevier are dead, but Gregor and Karina are still alive. They adopted their daughter Clara, who used to be an apprentice, and are training her to take over the family.

Secret family history: Gregor knew during Anna's pregnancy that Briar was clairvoyant and ordered Anna and Paul to get rid of the child. Anna and Paul faked Briar's death but really had her adopted by a family outside the mage community. The Evarra family was desperate for a clairvoyant and desperate to end the Sevier line once and for all, since Anna was the last in the Sevier line. The Evarra family was alerted to the Sevier family's location by a flare up of Briar's magic during her birth. Anna and Paul were living separately from Gregor at the time, since he was so scared of being found. The Evarra family found Anna and Paul and murdered them to try to destroy the Sevier line and out of anger of not being able to capture the clairvoyant Briar.

Age: 22
History: Anastasia was born during a time of turmoil, just after her mother had regained her throne. Due to her parents' separation and fighting, she was brought up in a convent for the first six years of her life. When her mother was under threat again, her father kidnapped her to keep her from being held hostage. She spent time in the south with her father and half-brother before finally being brought to the castle. Her mother scared her, but she overcame her fear and became quite close to her mother. She was always a sickly and weak child, but she began riding and training with a staff, and her body became stronger. She still suffers from weak spells, but isn't as bad as her mother. She's become a gifted linguist and mathematician, with her father's love of history as well.

Age: 18
History: Esteri is the youngest princess of a neighboring kingdom, which has been allies with Kara's Northern ancestors for generations. Her kingdom has enjoyed relative peace for years, but lately there have been whispers of rebellion, that those who tried to overthrow Kara have moved there. Esteri was invited to Kara's kingdom as a representative of her kingdom at Anastasia's birthday.

Age: 40
History: The queen. Her father died when she was young, and she became queen with her mother Laura as regent. Kara was constantly trying to keep Laura from gaining power, and she became so paranoid that she poisoned herself to build a tolerance to poisons that her enemies might use. She has always been sickly. She rejected countless suitors before marrying Jadyn, and only then to spite her mother by marrying someone Laura considered low-born, though she did come to care for Jadyn. She became pregnant right before Laura had her and her friends imprisoned and tortured in an attempt to steal the crown. With the help of Jadyn's father, Kara managed to regain the throne, but not long after, she and Jadyn separated. Anastasia was born after Erik, and Kara and Jadyn decided to have their daughter brought up in a convent. After six years, another rebellion, and a serious illness, Kara and Jadyn finally reconciled, and they have become friendly again. Kara still suffers from health problems from time to time, though she no longer poisons herself, and she occasionally requires the use of a cane, due to injuries to her feet from Laura's torture.

Age: 40
History: A northern duchess. She spent most of her time at court in her youth, and she and Kara were not close. Eventually, she became Jadyn's mistress, to bear a child with Terrell blood in case Kara could not have children, and Erik was the result. During Laura's rebellion, Sophie and her father were favored, and Sophie used this to help protect Jadyn. When Kara regained the throne, though, Sophie and her father were exiled, and Sophie's father died. It took years for Kara to allow Sophie to return to court, and shortly after Jadyn and Kara reconciled, Sophie married Kenneth and left court. She had a family of her own and has not returned to court or visited Erik in years.

Age: 24
History: Born a lady, she was kidnapped by pirates aged 10, but as an orphan with no family to pay for her she was useless to them for ransom. She was educated, though, and the captain put her to work with logs and ordered her to teach his daughter, who was a sailor aboard the ship, how to read. In exchange, she taught Kira navigation, charts, sailing, and tactics. Some she picked up from just being on the ship as well. At age 15 Kira left the Cobra to join her friend's crew on the Arsia as quartermaster. They were very close, but at age 20 her friend wanted to go to Singapore to chase a lead, Kira disagreed, and she left. She got her own ship, Pavonis, and began to make a name for herself. She became known as a skilled captain, but she lost her ship, weakened by battle, in a storm on her way back to port. She and a handful of her crew survived, and now she is seeking a new ship and crew.

Evan walked down one f the main streets in town, towards the book store. They were having some problems with their electrical system, and he was cheaper than hiring an electrician. Besides, he had a feeling that the owners were taking pity on him because he had lost both his parents so recently, but whatever. He needed the money either way.

Corelli was halfway bored to death. Nobody ever came to the bookstore, even less now with all the problems. But she wouldn't complain aloud, she was too afraid of being yelled at. She walked over to one of the shelves and pulled out a book.

Evan walked into the front of the store. He was wearing jeans and a plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. "Hello," he said, a little quietly, when he saw Corelli.

Corelli turned around, her white dress flaring out around her legs. She saw the boy and quickly put the book back, afraid to be scolded. "How may I help you?" she asked quietly.

"I'm just here to work on the electrical system," Evan replied, looking down at his tool box. "Where should I go?"

Corelli nodded. "Yes, it's in the back," she said, pointing him in the right direction. Then she walked to the back room and held the door open for him, looking down shyly.

"Thank you," Evan said with a shy smile. Then he walked into the back room and put down his tool box to open up the electrical box.

Corelli left the boy in the back and went back to the counter, waiting for customers that would never come. She saw an envelope sitting on the counter and figured it was the boy's fee. She waited patiently for him to finish his work.

Evan began to work, quietly.

Soon after, a man walked into the store, looking around. He seemed a little nervous.

Corelli looked up. "Can I help you?" she asked politely. She thought the man looked a little strange, but disregarded it.

The man looked to Corelli and wanted to the counter. He pulled a gun out of his pocket and leveled it with her forehead. "You can empty the cash register," he hissed to her.

Corelli froze. She felt a strange feeling inside her body, power welling up inside her that she had never known. Her hand twitched a little, towards the cash, but it stopped before she could do anything.

"What are you waiting for?" the man demanded, hitting her across the face with the pistol.

Evan heard something and walked to the door. He opened it up and saw what was going on.
