Tony listened to Autumn intently, following each word she said. He didn't look to be very interested, actually, and sat stoically with his eyes staring blankly at the bed sheet. He only looked up when he felt her bandaged hand on his, then returned his eyes to the sheet. Everything she said was more flattering than the last, but it wasn't the usual flattery he had received. Sure, he had been called a hero before, but she picked up on something that most others didn't. His success wasn't granted, he worked for it. Magazines portrayed him as a privileged heir who got lucky with a weapon invention. They overlooked his work ethic, his drive, and more importantly his struggle.

He had been placed on a pedestal for so long, however, that he had forgotten what struggle felt like. He had forgotten his mortality, and when he had a taste of it he nearly lost it. But somehow Autumn was able to bring him back again. Whereas in the past he could resurrect himself, this time he had needed help, and she was there for him. She reminded him that he was human, and as a human was expected to have flaws. Even as Tony Stark, Iron Man, whatever, he was allowed to not be perfect. "Autumn..." He hadn't spoken her name in so long, it also felt foreign. His eyes lifted to meet hers with a vulnerability that was usually so repressed. He wanted to explore this humanity further. Tony supported his weight on his less damaged arm and with the other hand traced her jawline. He gently held her chin between his thumb and index finger and guided her face towards his. Closing the gap between them, he planted a soft kiss on her lips. It was one of passion, but more importantly it was one of gratitude. She was his means of support. When he pulled away, his lips still lingered over hers. "Thank you."

Steve drummed his fingers on his leg. He wanted to keep calm, because having his conduct challenged was something new to him. It wasn't a particularly pleasant experience, either. He didn't openly acknowledge Cosette's hand and even seemed to ignore it. It wasn't out of some petty feeling, but only because he tried to think of a way to defend his logic. There were very few exceptions to his rules, and supposed mind control was one. But he wanted to portray the idea that if even an ally was under control and was attacking, they had every right to retaliate. He ran his hand through his hair as a means to keep his nerves in check. "But you don't understand..."

He had trailed off not for a lack of conviction, but rather her story. It was tragic, no doubt, but what had she said? Her fiance? His breath caught in his throat. "You were engaged?!" His voice reached a higher register that he didn't think possible. He had hardly been with a girl before romantically and she had a whole past love! Suddenly Steve felt inadequate, nervous, and shocked all at once.

Marie was delightfully surprised by the sudden hug. She attempted to return it by squeezing him as tightly as she could as a sort of joke, considering how weak she was in comparison to, well, anyone. Once she was on the ground again, she looked back to mounds of destruction. She shrugged. "Yeah, you can help. There's definitely enough to go around." She said and looked down the expanse of the hall. It was lined with debris, and she swore the S.H.I.E.L.D agents had strewn more just to give her extra work. Bastards.

She went to lift one of the medium sized chunks of wall, having some trouble at first, but was able to stabilize herself. "So Loki's your brother? You guys seem so different." Marie said while making her way to the wheelbarrow. Even if the piece she had wasn't all that large, it still was strenuous for her, and when she reached the wheel-borough she threw it in. Honestly, she was pretty proud, and for a moment she let this shine on her face. After her little confidence boost, she faced Thor again. "Hey, if he's your brother, does that mean you can control people too? Because if that's the case, we can't be friends anymore." Marie meant this in jest, but there was an underlying truth. Being brainwashed quickly became a phobia of hers.

Autumn Wayne

Autumn was caught off guard by the gentle kiss she received from Tony. It was unexpected but gratefully welcomed, and with this kiss Autumn knew for a fact that she had strong feelings for Tony. Autumn's breath caught as Tony pulled away and uttered a thanks.

In a form of 'you're welcome' Autumn placed her soft lips on Tony's and kissed him in return. It was a gentle kiss, but there was still an evident amount of unbridled passion. When Autumn pulled away, she was grinning from ear to ear.

"Come away with me to Heirloom. You can recuperate and we'll take sometime away from everything." Autumn proposed. It was a romantic fantasy, almost childish, and certainly uncharacteristic of Autumn. She was grounded in reason, sensibility, and facts. But now was not the time to be. Ever since her employment at S.H.I.E.L.D. things had been far from sensible and Autumn was learning to spread her wings and break from her self prescribed antisocial self.

Tony was certainly enjoying their little moment. It was both a good distraction and remedy for his previous mood, which was quickly picking up now. He considered Autumn's offer for a moment, wondering if it was the best plan of action. It may be moving too fast, or... Oh hell, who cared? Being taken care of by a pretty girl was always a treat, and there was no way he was going to pass that up. He smiled back at her. "I wouldn't mind that." He said simply, as if it were just a typical proposal. He chuckled. "Of course, you have to understand that I'm a pretty demanding house guest."

He knew he wasn't going to take advantage of being her guest, but being who he was, he had to do something. That could range anywhere from taking her car out for a joyride to requesting her to wear a French maid outfit. That didn't sound too bad. However, she could easily get upset at either suggestion, or anything in between, so maybe it wasn't wise. Last time he had been invited to one of her homes, it didn't end very well, so he couldn't pull his usual stunts. Tony leaned back on his gurney, folding his arms behind his head. "First off, I need you to carry me to your car. Princess style. And no complaining." He didn't think that this was crossing the line, just his usual humor. But, if she could somehow pull his request off, he'd be thoroughly impressed.

Cosette LeBeau

"We had been together since I was sixteen and he proposed when we twenty. I'm twenty five now, so that was five years ago. It was recent too, the engagement I mean, when he was killed. His name was Sean Cassidy, you may have heard of his codename, Banshee." Cosette said softly. She wasn't about to shed tears, or suddenly break down-- Cosette rarely did that these days. She still reserved a special spot for her former lover in her heart, and cried for him in private on occasion, but the wound wasn't as fresh as it had been five years ago. Time had been kind and allowed Cosette to heal. "It's okay, it was painful, but time has been kind."

((So, I used Banshee as Cosette's past love interest. Heh, if you know anything about him besides the fact that he's Irish and an X-Man, just ignore it since I didn't want her paired with a guy way older than her. Besides Cap of course who is technically physically close in age to her. XD))

"I am here if you need to speak with someone." Thor offered. "I know it is forward, but my offer is made in honesty."

"I am used to it in many ways, and in others I am not. Theses enemies, besides my brother, are not familiar to me. I do not know them, nor have I ever. But I fight because I know their actions are immoral and wrong. And I fight to protect the ones I care for. I was foolish in my past, but now I have a purpose and a desire to do something with myself."

Thor sat down and brushed the dust off of his black t-shirt. He looked up to Marie."Do you have a purpose here as well? Or are you still searching?"

Steve wasn't exactly sure of how to continue. His previous vehemence was lost, and he now focused his energies on Cosette's obscure past. A million questions must have been buzzing around his head and it was impossible to choose just one. "I just- I uh, I'm sorry for your loss." He had some complications in finding words to say while suppressing the urge to blurt out inquiries. If he was going to do so, he would have to be delicate in his approach. A lost loved one was difficult to bear, he would know. But perhaps she could benefit from having someone to talk to about it. In his own experience, it seemed easy enough to seem nonchalant on the subject, but there were times when a place of support was needed.

His eyes weren't quite as wide now, since the surprise had dulled into contemplative shock. This was a whole other level of being too far in the past; would he have been in the same position if he had never been frozen? It was amazing how time worked. Steve cleared his throat. "How long had you been together for?" He asked in a softened tone. He wanted to show that he was trustworthy, though he also feared that he was being intrusive. Honestly, he expected a negative response.

Autumn Wayne

"Well first of all, I was stuck here all night, too." Autumn replied with a chuckle. Some of her sensibility had returned, but she was still lighthearted."So.. I'd accept the challenge, my lord, and carry you, but there's no car to take you to." Autumn paused to think, biting her lip in thought, and made a playful bow to Tony. When she came to a conclusion, Autumn's attention returned to Tony. "How about this? We'll get you checked out after everything's cleared, and I'll pick you up. Contrary to popular belief I do own a car, and yes, it's nicer than yours." Autumn added, winking at Tony when she mentioned her car. "We can head to Heirloom or, if you'd like we can head to Lilywood."

((Lilywood is a manor that Autumn actually inherited from her grandmother (Bruce's mother), but this was only recently made aware to her in the past year.))

Marie took a small break and dusted her hands off. She couldn't help but to notice how much Thor was able to lift without a single issue, and then she recalled how difficult it was for her to carry a piece of debris less than half that size. It made her feel embarrassed of her own lack of strength, but this feeling soon passed. Oh well, she couldn't do anything about it. "Yeah, I'm fine. The whole thing got me pretty shaken up though." She admitted with a small sigh. It was daunting to think of just how easily the mind could be controlled with the proper tools, like the tesseract. She was glad that such objects were out of their reach now.

Despite these potential weapons being off base, it was still concerning that Loki was even able to escape in the first place. Wasn't S.H.I.E.L.D supposed to have top-knotch equipment and security? Why was such a large threat ignored? Her sense of security was hindered greatly, but for now she tried paying it no mind. "It's just crazy how quickly things can spiral out of control, y'know? But I guess you're used to that, being a big ol' hero and all." Marie smiled and lightly punched his arm. She wondered if any of these sudden attacks ever surprised him or the other Avengers, or if they were just a part of the job. If these types of things were frequent, she had a right mind to go job hunting in the near future.

Tony scoffed at the mention of cars. Please, he was the king of flashy cars. He gave her a questioning look. "Try saying that again when you've seen all of my cars." He teased, his confidence abounding again. It seemed that his previous insecurity was beginning to wane and his usual self was dominating again. If this was a front rather than a genuine shift, he wasn't exactly aware of it. Being an arrogant jerk had become second nature to him now, so essentially it could have been both. He wasn't sure if all of the therapy and traumatic moments could change that.

He gave a false pout when Autumn had proposed her plan. He hated waiting and he hated hospitals. So, the two being combined wasn't the most fun thing he had in mind. There was no point in him staying, he believed, because he looked to be well on the way to recovering. But, she seemed to have made up her mind, and he didn't want to argue with a woman as stubborn as her. He probably wouldn't have won anyway.

However, it sounded as if he had a choice between her two houses. Tony looked to the ceiling as he debated his options. Well, he Heirloom was nice, but he had already visited there. He could play it safe and choose this one, though he enjoyed taking risks. "Take me to Lilywood. I'm expecting some sort of castle, am I right?"

Autumn Wayne

"Heh, you're cute." Autumn replied, smirking. She stood and looked out the window to see that the sun had fully risen by now. "I'll take care of things, and sure you're out of here today. I don't think there's anything life threatening. As for Lilywood, you'll have to wait and see." In a bold move, Autumn leaned down to place a quick kiss on Tony's lips before heading off, barefoot, to make the preparations for their trip.

"Mr. Stark? You're all clear to go. Ms. Wayne is waiting for you outside the lobby with transportation." Stated a nurse who had entered Tony's hospital room thirty minutes after Autumn had left. Autumn had worked quickly. The nurse handed Tony a bag with a fresh change of his personal clothes and any other personal items such as a razor the he would need. There was a brief note from Pepper Potts wishing him quick healing.

When Tony was escorted out of the building, he was greeted by Autumn who was wearing a white form-fitting strapless cocktail dress and standing by a white convertible sports car. She smiled warmly and opened the door for Tony as he approached the car. "I called Ms. Potts to assist me. I really like that woman, I think we're becoming friends." Autumn commented as she headed to the driver's seat and entered the car. She started the engine and espite being a purely electric car (unbenknownst to Tony), the engine roared to life. They were on their way.

((Her vehicle is the Tesla Roadster, a sports car that runs on electricity instead of gasoline. But for awesomeness, I'm going to make where it's actually a prototype car that Autumn designed herself and had commissioned. Hers looks like a mix between this and this. This is what the interior and everything looks like if you're interested.))
