Well it's normal to force children to study, do homework etc.
but no, it's not normal to buried their children for not doing homework

I bet even my chinese side of the family would feel disgusted.

Terrifying. I do understand that he wants his son to have a successful life but don't kick your kid's a** over homework. The dad is clearly very stupid.
