I'm confused what Bill was passed?

I know this isn't an excuse so I live in Canada and you know have free health care so I don't really know all the rules with the American health care system. What bill was passed and how does it affect Americans?

They put in a public health care system I think. (Canadian too.) As far as I know American healthcare used to be completely (or mostly) privatized, and if you didn't have health insurance or the money to pay your bills, you didn't get to see a doctor. I think they changed that to reflect our healthcare a bit more.

Apparently it's like cars there though, where you're legally obligated to buy healthcare insurance instead of them jacking up the taxes..?
