I will finally be able to see a doctor. I can find out what to do to resolve the sometimes unbearable back pain I suffer from on a regular basis. It gets so bad sometimes that I can barely walk. I can also find out what causes chest pains that come and go. It can be months between bouts of pain, and at it's worst even a vicodin won't do anything for the pain. I'd love to know the cause of that and be able to find out how to take care of it. Same for the fluttery feeling I sometimes get in my chest where it feels like my heart is going nuts. It's been a long time since it's happened, thankfully, but it scares me every time it happens.

I'd love to be able to go to a doctor and find out why my body does some of the things it does, but I simply can't because I have no money to pay for a visit, and no insurance to help pay. My job doesn't pay enough for me to cover expenses out of pocket, and they offer insurance but they do everything they can to save themselves money by making sure people don't qualify for the insurance. If there was something I could get for myself that I could actually afford to pay for on my less than 15k a year it would be wonderful.
Still don't know how it will affect me and people living in my state b/c my state is suing the government over it. biggrin

You heart flutters like your heart is skipping beats & then it goes away? Mine does that too. It is common among people to have that. It's called PVC. Pre Ventricular Contractions. Its where you can feel your heart fluttering aka skipping beats, all you have to do is cough. & it's gone. But it is caused by too much caffeine & stress. Eliminate those two things & you will have them less. But if it happens like 10 times in a row then you need to see a cardio doctor b/c it can lead to a heart attack. The cardio doctor will put these little suction cups on your chest to monitor your beats & find out how often you get them. Its called something like an ecto-cardiogram. Don't quote me on that. But your doc should give you blood pressure pills for it.

Also in the reform health care bill I found out that if companies like yours don't give you health insurance they will get fined heavily. B/c they have to, & if your company doesn't then, you have to get health insurance by every month or by each year. Every month is a lot cheaper than every year. But if you don't get insurance on your own the health care bill does state that it will fine you $600 and some odd dollars. So either way you have to pay or your company has to pay. & the insurance can only go so far. Then that's when you have to pay the rest. The insurance is paid in full at a hospital or where they pay the full amount & then you pay the deductible.

But I'm sure if you pay by the month, the government will find a way to make you pay the full yearly amount. B/c there's always a loop.
I'm not black so I can't get on welfare insurance. I'm not Pregnant so I can't get on insurance.
I can't afford insurance, so I'll be paying a 750 dollar fine. I can't believe people think it's going to be free it's not. It's a law making it mandatory.

What happens (before and after the bill) if you discover that you have a preexisting condition?

Well, I'm 20 and my boyfriend is 24. We live together. Thanks to this bill, I will be able to stay on my mom's insurance until I can afford to buy my own, and he can talk to his dad about getting back on his insurance. The insurance plans that our employers offer aren't something we can afford, but being on a family plan with our parents is cheaper.

However, if we don't have insurance by 2014, we will be fined $95, and if we don't have insurance by 2016, we'll be fined $695.

The way I understand it, now that the bill is passed, insurance companies can't deny you based on a preexisting condition.

My insurance premiums go up,
and my taxes go up.

My family pays 1500 every year, plus co-pays,
and we've got 80-90% coverage on everything.
