So, a little bit less than a year ago, my neighbor a couple houses down put up this monstrous 20' tall flagpole. I thought "Yup, he's gonna go and show how patriotic he is." And he did. He put an American flag up. Which is all well and good -- we live in America, that's our flag, feel free to fly it whenever you want.
But, you can't fly it HOWEVER you want. You especially can't just put it up, then leave it there for a year, because you start looking like a ******** a*****e that puts up symbols that don't reflect values you actually hold.

That is how that flag looks after flying for almost a year. Notice that the ******** bars are ripped almost to the ******** stars. Notice that it hasn't been taken down ONCE -- not in the rain, not in the snow, not in the dark.
Putting up a flag is good. Showing ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR IT is not. There are rules for flying the flag of our nation. Don't fly it in inclimate weather. Don't fly it at night unless it's lit. If it's not in a condition to properly stand for the Union, it must be destroyed respectfully.
None of those things seem to apply with this guy and I'm forced to see this ragged disgrace fly all the time out one of my main windows.
So, how should I notify him of this ridiculous faux pas?
