I heard the second was easier. I can for sure tell you the first is one of the toughest game I ever played.

On a side note this type of game is more forgiving than rogue likes.

you can fast travel, just not to every bonfire

Bryagh's Significant Otter

Virtuous Man-Lover

DkS1 is much more difficult overall, but both are significantly more challenging than Demon's.

None are as difficult as they're known for, though.

If I can't go to every single one then what's the point.

you can go to 20 different places.
thats more than enough.
I don't think anyone legitimately thinks DS2 is more difficult than DS1.

The only way DkS2 is difficult is if you handicap yourself or dont put anything into adaptability.
DkS1 is only difficult if you're new or handicapped.... Like legit handicap.

So I mean... They're rather even. DkS2 is far cheaper than DkS1 is.

I agree the first is harder, the boss fights and enemies overall in general. In the second one
It feels like they copy pasted half of the bosses from the first game and then places a bunch of enemies in tight areas, which agruably doesn't make something harder.

I mean sure it does, but it's just not as fun. Not to mention half the challenge in the first game was if you died, you had to go through it all again to retrieve your souls. The second game has way too many bonfires, making the risk for venturing out in the world pretty much zero, which was fun to me. I felt a real sense of danger in the first game because if I died the second time, I would rage and just turn off the xbox for a while.

Magical Prophet

I played DkS1 as a Knight.

Couldn't roll at all. Couldn't run. I got killed at every turn, as I could hardly dodge and parry.
The first is definitely harder. Poopah invaders and horrific bosses in horrific spots. At least we get proper stages in DS2.

Fused Astronomer

Demon's was considerably harder for me, but that's probably because it was the first souls game I played. The first souls game you play will be your "hardest" simply because you don't grasp what makes a soul game, a soul game.

Dark Souls is more immersive, less hand holding, and it really pulls you into the world.
Dark Souls II has more enemy tracking (It's terrible) but has a far better PC port.
