My top movie trilogies are, in no particular order:

1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones (Kingdom of Crystal Meth doesn't count)
3. Back to the Future
4. Lord of the Rings

No other trilogies have come close to having each film be such a solid addition to the series. The trilogies mentioned above pretty much perfected the art of the sequel; take your wins and leave (too bad Lucas made the prequels and then sold the rights to Disney).

It has to be Lord of the Rings for me personally. Having read it as a child and feeling the thrill of watching characters like Gandalf and Aragorn come alive on the big screen when it came out was just jaw dropping! heart
