Is alchemy really worth it?

Do you abide by the laws of alchemy?

I tried a human transmutation...	9.1%	[ 2 ]
I turned my house into gold...and then it turned into stone	18.2%	[ 4 ]
To obtain, something of equal value must be lost	54.5%	[ 12 ]
I am a Chimera...	18.2%	[ 4 ]

A lot of the formula's require items that are in the millions and several of them at that.

Is there a trick to this? Or is it just a waste of time?

Though I would recommend planning it out up to level 9 as some formulas use items from other levels. ^_^
