I have a question. A few people in this thread have referred to themselves as ABC's. Do you always use that terminology, or only when speaking in Chinese?

How do you interpret the meaning behind that terminology, as compared to Chinese American?

Hi hi!

Oy... too lazy to type in Chinese cuz I suck at pinyin/too lazy to do pinyin... I mainly speak English cuz I'm Chinese American (aka ABC meaning, my nationality (place of birth) = American, and ethnically = Chinese). My secondary language is Chinese... mainly Cantonese. I can kinda speak and understand Mandarin. I haven't travelled too often to China and Taiwan. So far, I loved my visits to HK and Taiwan. I do miss the lifestyle there after visiting... and oh the food! If anyone will like to share a recipe from where they are from with me, that will be awesome! xd lol!

Uhm, I've heard people use that term when speaking English. So I'd think it's pretty much the same thing as Chinese American.

Usually, it's “可是我在上中文学校." But, grammar aside, how are you?
And, just out of curiosity, are you going because your parents told you to, or because you're just interested in Chinese?

Haha, I'm really lazy too! And I'm also an ABC C: *high fives*
I can't understand much Cantonese; I'm way better at understanding Mandarin.
I haven't been to Hong Kong and Taiwan before, but I would really like to go as I have already gone to many other parts of China.

And the food thing... I don't really cook :face palm:
But I could probably get a recipe from my mom or someone!
