Great job! whee One thing： “我是从Louisiana。” should be "我是从Louisiana 来的(lai de)。” Just need to add a "来的" after the original sentence. Without the 来的 here， the sentence is incomplete.

Example conversation:
你是从哪里来的？　（ni shi cong na li lai de?) : Where did you come from?
and then you can reply:
我是从美国来的。 (wo shi cong mei guo lai de) : I come from America.

Basically I can hold a small conversation with someone before getting confused. razz My grammar isn't perfect either but still working on it! I've taken two college semesters of Mandarin and am going on to my third semester. Still got so much to learn. I'm better at listening and reading then I am at speaking. But my speaking and writing is improving.
