I have a question...

do u watch yor Favorite TV Shows in french?
like
Spongebob Squarepants
Family Guy
The Simpsons

I mean if you prefer watching them in english or french.

They exist in French, but I prefer watching them in English as I'm more used to the English voices. And sometimes the dubbing isn't well done neither.

"Did you get the Message?"
"did you get my last message?

"It's you!
dont you recognize your own voice?"

"Feelings Go In Here"

" Pretty Girl"

"Normal Girl"

"Brave Girl"

"Five years ago i gave you a heart made of wood
i think you still have it. you mentioned that it needed a repair
a new golden layer to heal !
i gave you a new layer last week but i think you didnt know what it was for"

"if i deleted these Recordings a part of me would die,
so why not having the opportunity to listen every word we used to say,
what we used to feel?
its like going back in time.

"its taking me forever to edit those recordings,
its not easy for me to do it.
everything you ever told me was a bunch of lies.

i know it was all a lie
a lie that made me happy
im an idiot."

"you said you loved me
If that was a lie
That was the sweetest lie that I have ever heard
If that was a lie
Was it something that you didn't really mean to say
But said it anyway
You can take it back if you want to
But I'm still gonna believe you
Every word

Tell me now was it my imagination
Or just a whisper on the wind
You know the tricks the heart can play
I swear I thought I heard you say
You loved me, yeah you loved me

I felt it in your tender touch
I wanted to believe so much
But was afraid to let you know
I've been waiting for so long to say I didn't hear you wrong
You loved me, yeah you loved me"

Hello, as I am currently on vacation, I will translate this in two parts. Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you understand.

"Did you get the Message?" = "As-tu reçu le message?"
"did you get my last message? = "As-tu reçu mon dernier message?"

"It's you!
dont you recognize your own voice?" = " C'est toi! Tu ne reconnais pas ta propre voix?"

"Feelings Go In Here" = "Les sentiments vont là"

" Pretty Girl" = "(une) jolie fille"

"Normal Girl"= " (une) fille normale"

"Brave Girl"= "(une) fille courageuse"

I will send you what comes next whenever I can.
Calling on your help finally! I posted in the French Café topic, but I tend to not get replies when I post there. Here's what I posted.

J'ai besoin d'aide!

Mon français ce n'est pas trés bein, je suis un novice. Soyez gentil!
I'm struggling a lot to wrap my head around le passé composé where direct and indirect objects and their agreements are concerned. I was wondering if someone could tell me if these sentences are correct, and if they're not, why exactly:

Elles sont descendues au sous-sol.
Voici les photos que j'ai pris pendant les vacances.
Paul et Léa ont tombé amoureux l'été dernier.
Ils se sont mariés il y a deux semaines.
Nous avons offert un cadeau à mes parents.
Je n'aime pas les chaussettes que tu ai mises
Ils ont couru dans le parc.
Il a retrouvé la clé qu'il a prise.
Où sont les fruits que j'ai achetés?

Merci beaucoup!

I completely understood all of this when it was just direct objects we were dealing with, but when they introduced indirect objects, my brain just sort of exploded, and it's not making any sense of it. I think I worked it out, after about half an hour of staring at the page, but the more I think about it, the more my brain just leaves the building.

Second part of translation, the longest poem is coming up soon.

Put what is in () if the narrator is in feminine mode.

"Five years ago i gave you a heart made of wood
i think you still have it. you mentioned that it needed a repair
a new golden layer to heal !
i gave you a new layer last week but i think you didnt know what it was for"

“Il y a cinq ans, je te donnais un cœur en bois,
je pense que tu l’as encore mais tu m’as dit qu’il devait être réparé.
Il lui fallait une nouvelle couche d’or pour qu’il guérisse!
Mais la semaine dernière, quand je t’ai offert cette couche d’or tu ne semblais pas savoir à quoi elle servait. »

"if i deleted these Recordings a part of me would die,
so why not having the opportunity to listen every word we used to say,
what we used to feel?
its like going back in time."

“Si je supprimais ces enregistrements une partie de moi mourrait.
Alors pourquoi ne pourrais-je pas avoir l’opportunité d’écouter chacun de tes mots,
ce que nous ressentions?
C’est comme si je retournais dans le temps.”

"its taking me forever to edit those recordings,
its not easy for me to do it.
everything you ever told me was a bunch of lies.

“Ça me prend une éternité de monter ces enregistrements
et ce n’est pas facile pour moi de le faire.
Tout ce que tu m’as dit n’était qu’un tas de mensonges. »

i know it was all a lie
a lie that made me happy
im an idiot."

“Je sais que ce n’était qu’un mensonge.
Un mensonge qui m’a rendu(e) heureux (se).
Je suis un(e) idiot(e)”

Welcome on my topic.
I'll help you out whenever possible, as you may have read on a post earlier I currently am on vacation, which makes it hard for me to take care of everyone's question right away. Don't worry though, you're on my list and I'll help you.

Final part:

"you said you loved me
If that was a lie
That was the sweetest lie that I have ever heard
If that was a lie

Was it something that you didn't really mean to say
But said it anyway
You can take it back if you want to
But I'm still gonna believe you

Tell me now was it my imagination

I've been waiting for so long to say I didn't hear you wrong
You loved me, yeah you loved me"

Tu m’aimais, oui tu m’aimais. »

How often does French slang change? I can understand some with little effort, like bj meaning bonjour, but is it as subject to change as British and American slang is? Some slang terms have stayed the same for decades (cool) and others are dated (such as groovy or 23 Skiddoo!).

French slang changes depending on where it comes from, just like accents.
First, there are differences between french and french canadian slang.
Then, in France, depending if you live in Paris or in the south/west or east of France accents and slang changes too. Of course there are words that are used through the whole country, but there still are regional differences.
It is the same with cursing words.

First, I want to tell you've done a great job as there aren't a lot of mistakes.

Voici les photos que j'ai pris pendant les vacances.

Voici les photos que j'ai prises pendant les vacances.

----& Here we have a direct object: to know it is a direct object, ask yourself:
J'ai pris quoi? (What did I take?)
réponse: Les photos. (the pictures)

"Les photos" is a feminine word and here it is plural because of the word "les"

Paul et Léa ont tombé amoureux l'été dernier.

Paul et Léa sont tombés amoureux l'été dernier.

You used the wrong auxiliary verb, with the verb "tomber" (to fall) we use the auxiliary "être" (to be)
When we use the auxiliary "être", you have to use verb agreement: "Paul et Léa" being masculine and plural, you have to add a "s" at "tombé".

Je n'aime pas les chaussettes que tu ai mises

Je n'aime pas les chaussettes que tu as mises.

That's a simple conjugation mistake: "J'ai, tu as, il a, nous avons, vous avez, ils ont" + "mises"

Where direct objects are linked to the verb itself, indirect objects need another word.

eg: Direct object: "Maman a préparé un gâteau" (Mom has prepared a cake)
ask yourself : "Maman a préparé quoi?" (What has mom prepared?)

-----------> "un gâteau" (a cake) so, "un gâteau" is the direct object.

depending on the sentence, you may also use "qui?" instead of "quoi?"

Indirect object: "Maman s'occupe du gâteau" (Mom is taking care of the cake" )

ask yourself: Maman s'occupe de quoi? (What is mom taking care of?)

--------> Du gâteau, so "du gâteau" (of the cake) is the indirect object.

In the two sentences, the object is the same (gâteau/cake) but it depends on how the sentence is put up for it to be direct or indirect.

I hope this helps already and if you have more questions you can contact me.

Yes, Aurore is like Aurora, which means "Dawn".
Roughly, you have to pronounce it that way : o-ro-r' since we don't pronounce the "e" at the end.

Here you go!

"Cela veut dire...
j'ai un coeur d'or? Tellement bon et généreux que l'on peut en abuser.
Finallement il deviendra un coeur de pierre. Brule-le si tu le souhaites, mais ne le brise plus.
Un coeur de pierre ne peut pas aimer et ne peut pas être aimé."
