Hahah, it may not sound so simplistic, but it really is. XD It takes me less than an hour to make enough french toast for a family of 6. XD I try to make pancakes and it takes longer. (Also, the sandwich grill doesn't set the nearby smoke alarm off. The pan for the pancakes does right at the start. XD)

Not very nice that you were tricked.. I would probably try it either way, because I've never tasted turtle. If it's good, cool, I like turtle. If it's bad, I can from then on say "No thanks, been there done that, not my cuppa tea."

I've never tried rabbit, and I would, just that it might be a bit hard to do it without thinking of my own rabbit. My folks tell me about the various animals they had growing up. They had a turkey called "Felipe" and a pig called "Yoya". Oh! The wonderful times they all shared~

And then they were eaten.
For me, giving something a name is like.. confirming a bond. It's not just an animal anymore, but a pet, a companion. So when they told me the fate of these creatures I was.. in slight disgust.
They were completely fine with it, and I understand. At that time and place, I'm sure it was normal for these farm-type animals, name or no. Hey, at least they didn't eat the dog.
