Gino on the Map? - Discussion

First of all, my apologies to anybody who saw this thread's title and ran around the maps looking for Gino. There is discussion here, I promise.

Basically, I was just clicking around the maps, and I realised that Barton Coast is likely to be the map that Gino appears on. Now, and this is pure just me thinking out loud, I can't see why anybody would throw a party or anything like that to merit an event taking place; I assume that Gino is just going to wash up on the shore and we'll be able to click him and see a manga-style comic. If nobody is throwing an event, and Gino isn't going to appear on the main Barton Town map, then there probably won't be an announcement to alert us to the plot update.

It occurred to me that Barton Coast is quite an out-of-the-way map; it has nothing on it and so you wouldn't have any reason to go there except if you knew that there was something there.

So, this brings me to my discussion points.

• How do you think we will be alerted to the plot update?
  
• Do you think that, in the plot update, we will see the rubble disappear and Gino return all at once, or will the manga appear a page at a time with some time between?
  
• If Cindy doesn't appear and there is not an announcement, then it is likely that a user will stumble across Gino before anybody else does. If this is the case, would they make a post in the GCD, or would the Q&A 'get there first'?

How do you think we will be alerted to the plot update?
I don't think there will be an annoucement. The way that we, the GCDers, will be alerted is by "OMFG!! GINO IS ALIVE!" threads all over this forum.

The rubble probably won't be cleared for a long time. There will probably be a manga of Gino returning.

If Cindy doesn't appear and there is not an announcement, then it is likely that a user will stumble across Gino before anybody else does. If this is the case, would they make a post in the GCD, or would the Q&A 'get there first'?

I didn't check if Gino was on the map. I know he isn't on there, even without checking.

No, I'm not attracted to Gino in any way whatsoever.

They should post in the GCD, but I'm pretty sure that a new user will be the first to stumble across Gino -- maybe they're going for a little explore to see if there are any other shops and secrets nobody is telling them -- and rather than making a: "Check the maps, Gino is there!" thread, they may make a: "Who is that guy on the map? I'm new, sorry..." thread.

really i thik cindy will have a banner on the main page with "Breaking News" or something written on it. You click on it and you either get a traditional update w/ a cindy npc avtar or another one of those manga pages.

By the overrun of repeat threads. ^^; But seriously? We won't be alerted, in my opinion, it'll just happen without an announcement.

They both seem pretty reasonable. But I'm not too entirely sure how they may go about this update's story-telling. Although, I do quite like the manga option.

Well, it depends on the time of day, and person. For instance, since many of Gaians live in the US and it is still a little early here on the pacific timezone, the Gaians who are up this early usually know where to go, so they would most likely go to the GCD. But, at the same time, another person would see the update and not know their way around Gaia yet, panic when they see something new on the map and go to the Q&A. But I was just blabbering nonsense, I like to think the GCD would "get there first".

No. XD A friend of mine already tricked me and a few others at the Harem with the same trick. She said he was on the Isle but you couldn't talk to him yet. We were nearly convinced they were starting to put in an update. Besides, the GCD would have been bombarded by something less coherent. XD

No. Whenever there's an update, I hear about it through the grapevine or the massive amounts of threads around. ^^ I go check it out then when everyone else was sure to see it. I don't really care if I see the update first or not, so long as I see it. ^^

Actually, I was thinking that Gino would be washed up along Barton Coast too. It would just seem sensible, wouldn't it? As you said, it is quite out of the way, and so, it would seem perfect! Besides, the rubble is quite along the way there, isn't it? It wouldn't be too much of a surprise if Gino did wash up particularly on Barton Coast.

Exactly. I think if he's going to have fallen off into the sea, he'd probably be in roughly the same area as the tower fell. Of course, it depends on how long has actually passed Gaia-wise since the tower fell, at what point during the tower's fall he fell off and everything like that...

But I just reckon it'll be Barton Coast. It could be anywhere with coastline, but as is it's reasonably close to the Durem Reclamation Hub and that little cave where everyone thinks Reinhart lives. Perfect opportunity to introduce everybody's soon-to-be-favourite miner. xd
