Seconded, my good man. But I could do without the whole 'making a counter-pseudo-holiday' thing. That's just odd.

I didn't make it up. February 14th is actually international singles day.

I didn't say that you made it up. I just said that it's pretty darn odd that a day was dedicated towards the sole purpose of spiting another day.

i thought so too, when i first heard of it, but it kinda makes sense because no everyone is going to have a valentine and it's kinda unfair.

But Valentine's Day isn't really that much about love and stuff. Some could use it as a time to stockpile on cheaply priced chocolates that weren't sold during the holiday. And if nothing else, wouldn't making a counter-festivity for people who couldn't do a typical V-Day shindig just make them more aware and likely depressed over that fact?

I agree, Valentine's day is a commercial holiday, i don't think it's about love and because of that i don't feel the need to really celebrate it anyways. chocolate is even cheaper the day after valentines day so that's really the day to go and stockpile IMO, and no, if you have a celebration of single people on V-day its more in the spirit of love meeting new people. I would rather go out and meet singles with the idea that i may meet someone who could in all likelihood become my love, then falling subject to the consumerism and commercialism that Valentines day has become. When people need a day to celebrate their love, that bothers me. You should want to get candy, or flowers, or go out for dinner, or do something special with the person you love any day in the 365 that make up a year. Why do we need Valentines day? so that stores can sell you flowers and chocolates at hugely inflated prices and then slash prices the very next day because they know that they can sell them anymore.
