Well... Yes, they do.
According to my Social Science professor...
People usually get married around 15 and up... Scary, but that's the way it is. eek

Haha! Oh, I am. 3nodding
I'm half Japanese and American.
Currently live in the Philippines though... sweatdrop

Hmm... True.
I don't intend to hide from her parents at all.
Nor do I intend to take this any further.

Perhaps waiting for her to reach 18 is wise... sweatdrop
It can't be longer than a year. It's probably quite less than that, unless she just had a birthday.

As a Japanese American immigrant... If you return to the US with her it's also wise to wait until she's 18 at least if you try to do something like that, I have no idea what your goals are really.

Actually... Yes, she just turned 17... in January I think.
And actually, she's a Filipino/American citizen herself.

Hmm... Perhaps waiting would indeed be best.
Don't plan to take her back to the US or Japan for that matter.
Life in the Philippines has been good thus far.

Okay so...
I actually met a girl a few months ago. She's 17... I'm 20...
We're friends...
But the thought that we could be more than that keeps nagging at me...

Now... There have been countless cases of age defying relationships.
But what I really want to know is:
Can love truly work despite clear differences in age?
Is it moral for older people to date younger people, or vice versa?

So... I wanna hear your thought Gaians! Discuss!

Three years isn't that big of a difference.

That being said, I find that I don't have much in common with women who are more than 5 - 8 years younger than me.

My partner is 5 years older than me, and we've been together longer than you've been alive. He was also one of the younger guys I dated. Age differences don't matter much, even less the longer you are together.

Hmm... Well, three years still presents a clear gap though.
I dunno... Maybe it's just me. confused

Well, I'm sure you'll find someone who shares common interests. 3nodding

It has and can. This is only one example, but my niece(turned 17 this past December) is dating a 19 yr old (will turn 20 in a couple of months) and their relationship is lovely. Eye-rollingly so, LOL! The thing seems pretty serious. The only thing I have against him, is she drives 2 hrs to get him every weekend, but he doesn't bother getting a ride to come to her. Other than that, they might as well be a married couple!

3 years isn't that much of a difference though. Plus, isn't 17 legal all over US?
Depends if you want the same things or not. Age differences always seem exaggerated when one party is in highschool and the other is not.
Not if it's a sex crime.

Yes they can, my mom was 18 my dad was 36 and had a previous marriage.

Thirty years later they are still very happily married and I have never in my life seen a couple more happy and in love.
He's just turned 30 and I'm about to turn 20. TEN YEAR AGE DIFFERENCE BUT IT'S WORKING AND WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. heart
