This thread has been put in place to share and discuss the deeper side of dubstep. Share your favourite tracks/mixes. Share your own tracks, if you produce, and be featured in the 'NOTEABLE GAIANS' section.
I know there has to be a few Gaians who enjoy this style of dubstep/music.
Music you share doesn't have to be strictly 140bpm dubstep. For example, one of my favourite producers, Kryptic Minds, does a lot of 160bpm+ tracks, but they still have the same sort of theme (dark, subbass, deep, etc). So essentially, if its easily relatable, go ahead and share it!
One of the main goals of this thread is to meet other Gaians that share a love for the deep stuff, and to also have those Gaians learn about other artists/songs they may not have known about.
A bit about deep dubstep:
Dubstep/ˈdʌbstɛp/ is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England. It emerged in the late 1990s as a development within a lineage of related styles such as 2-step garage, broken beat, drum and bass, jungle, dub and reggae. In the UK the origins of the genre can be traced back to the growth of the Jamaican sound system party scene in the early 1980s. The music generally features syncopated drum and percussion patterns with bass lines that contain prominent sub bass frequencies.
Nowadays we have many different 'sub-genres' of this music. There's chillstep, brostep, drumstep, deep dubstep, etc.
This thread is going to focus on the DEEP dubstep.
Deep dubstep is widely considered 'real' or 'oldschool' dubstep in the scene (as far as true followers are concerned). This style of dubstep focuses on what it was all about when the genre started making waves in the UK; prominent sub bass, and interesting percussion. The main goal of a deep dubstep track is to really give you a dark sort of feel and put all the focus on the sub bass frequencies and some mid range, unlike what we know as 'brostep' which tends to have more focus on mid/high range frequencies.
Another key aspect to deeper dubstep tracks is atmosphere and percussion.
Lets take a listen to a popular anthem in the deep dubstep scene:
