is a shoujo still a shoujo if the main character is male?

sorry if this is a painfully stupid question to ask, but it's really late and i just can't figure it out
the story i'm working on [i'll probably be doing it all manga style, i guess it's called] looks like and talks like and walks like a shoujo, but its main character is a guy

Personally, I would say yes as there are also female main characters in shonen manga. The genre is not only defined by characters, it is defined by the type of the story, how it is drawn and how it is told. Is it a story directed towards a female audience? Then it is a shoujo. biggrin
