The US is a democracy, too, yet it's still controlled by a handful of people...
at least the us makes most of u.s. think that we have a say

gaia's ceo just completely dictates what happens

tbh i use to not care about the inflation and gold gens
idk what changed but now im just like ugh another one

If I thought it would help, I'd do it.
But, as it stands, I can barely manage one petition right now. .___.

Without using the obvious points, explain to me how Gaia is not different from the US government?

1. Gaia is pixels, US isn't
2. Gaia isn't a government
3. they are a business
4. they don't have the same duties
5. operate under different criteria and standards
6. Gaia doesn't run our lives and if it does, its the person who has the problem, not Gaia
7. And did I mention that ITS JUST PIXELS?!

If Gaia were a thing, I'd burn it down in protest.

Gaia does have a HQ in California. i wouldn't burn it down, but I'd protest.
You know, I was looking forward to going to a Gaia convention somewhere around the US. You realize they're not even doing them anymore? lol
They wouldn't like the outcome, I presume.

Yeah, I noticed that.
I don't know what happened to Gaia.
I've heard rumors that they changed management, causing all these gold generators from some imbecile who doesn't value consumer trust, but communication between admins and community members today is so rare, it's like an urban legend to hear of any communication.
Questions aren't being answered, protests are being ignored.
At first I told myself they'd realize they were destroying the site, and stop. That things would get better.
But I've completely lost hope. They passed the point of no return, and never planned on turning back to begin with.

At this point, I'm completely done spending money on the site, and not because I don't want to support Gaia (I do, and have in the past) but because it's simply a reckless investment. This site is dying, Burning out in a fiery mess of corporate greed.
I can't even describe how upset and frustrated and disappointed I am.
I know I'm not alone though.

This is true. Sadly, in a business like this, it's acceptable to be a dictator. I'm tired of counting the generators. There's too many. Each one of them hurts the economy more and more, but the fuhrer doesn't care. As long as he stays rich.

The government is a business.
You think politicians run things out of the kindness of their heart or loyalty to their country?
******** no. They're getting paid more than most of us will ever see in our lives.
Different subjects, same concept.

1 - 4 are pointing out the obvious, so I'm going to ignore those.
While they do run under different oaths and criteria, there are more things they have in common than not. They may be just pixels, but underneath that, there is a community behind Gaia. Art arenas. Forums. Games. Social media. There are hundreds of people that I have met over the time that I have been on Gaia that used to call Gaia a virtual home. Why? Because, we could come here and enjoy or time together. Not in my lifetime, but America was once a decent place to live. No country is innocent and free of guilt, but look what greed has turned our country into.
The same thing is happening to Gaia.

I'm glad other people are still taking the time to speak up.
I've been here since 04, and I refuse to let this site die without putting up a fight, or at least bitching the whole way down. emotion_donotwant
Gaia used to be a special place for me.
Now it's just a reminder of the life of poverty I wanted to get away from.

Under WHAT circumstance is a government a business?
Please, enlighten me.

Rich in real life = rich on Gaia.
Couldn't they make plenty of profit through advertisements, as many users as there are who access it daily?
Did they really feel the need to take it this far?
I'll never understand who could've possibly thought gold generators were a good idea.

I don't know if anyone else remembers, but back when flynn's booty came out for the second time, they posted an announcement responding to "concerns that it would have a negative impact on Gaia's economy." The admin claimed that they'd consulted an economist, and been advised that it shouldn't have a significant impact.
Insignificant? Really? stare
I hope this is all just due to the economist's poor education due to rising tuition costs. From the recession happening in real life.
