To an extent, yes.

But I mostly believe that it's something to do with hormones.

I think the bigger mental defects are on parents of 8 year old kids who try and start a transitioning process on their kid because little Billy decided to wear a tutu once for the ******** of it or little Sarah decided she wanted a Transformer instead of a Barbie, so it must OBVIOUSLY mean they want to be the other gender.

Obviously I will get s**t for this, but yes, I think it's a kind of disorder.

But in a way that mentality and hormones simply don't match up (since they ended up being born the wrong physical body), not in a way that makes it a "mental disease".

It's obviously an "abnormal condition" because otherwise surgery and hormone treatment wouldn't exist to "fix" it in case to make the affected people happy. It's just like being born with some other physical problem that requires surgery to be corrected.

I'm all for it. Everyone should be able to live in the body they want and it's good that the treatment and surgery exists.
If there was a truly satisfying way to correct someone's physical gender, I'd have gotten surgery years ago myself, actually. sad
But now I'm too old for the treatment anyway.
