"twenty-fourteen" is less of a mouthful than "two thousand fourteen" so I say the former.

Really it's just 1 less syllable.

Same way people say 1914 as nineteen-fourteen. Cuz one thousand, nine hundred-fourteen sounds stupid.
We should've started using the "twenty" suffix instead of "two thousand" back in 2000. Twenty-hundred sounds cooler.
