INDENTWhen the orange Baird felon jokingly mentioned her awkward failure, a harshly red shade striped her face horizontally, rising up on her cheeks and across the bridge of her nose. She had cringed just a slight bit at the memory as she couldn't help but be embarrassed by it. Yeah, to guy had some sense of humor alright. She let out a nervous laugh after he stated he was only kidding with her, but for a few more seconds she couldn't shake off the shy feeling. Once those few seconds passed, she was fine again, no more heavy weighted failures to remind her of. She grew a friendly smile, half-showing a set of white teeth. Serena didn't say anything as she listened to the police officer think aloud, but she couldn't help but zone out for a while, only to notice that he hadn't given her his name, how odd, considering she had given hers already. Wasn't it customary for people to introduce each other with names? Or maybe..in this new town..they greeted each other with jokes. What a strange town this was....
INDENTThen after a few more blank stares and blindly walked side-by-side with the taller male, she remembered that he already had said his name. Toma. Toma, Toma, Toma. Still, the name was pretty strange. Maybe it was Japanese.. She assumed, due to the awkward shout out he sent her way a few minutes ago. Something about panties. The thought made her giggle to herself, lifting a hand to barely cover her face. It was also quite embarrassing to be laughing in public to a memory of mental upbringing. For some reason though, Serena liked the awkward stares she was receiving as strangers caught her laughing for no particular reason. Her bubbly laughter halted at a change of pressure on her head and a temporary blinding. It didn't take too long for Serena to notice her peripheral vision blocked by something dark and solid, completely covering most of her landscape. Using a hand to feel what had been placed on her head, she felt around and recognized it as Tomas's officer hat. The kind gesture almost sent her blushing again, luckily the hat large enough to cover most of the color surfacing to her face again. Such a kind action sent an unfamiliar warmth through her chest. Serena had made new family members through gangs and all, but none of them cared at all like this. Tomas's offer represented that he really cared enough to keep her undercover, to keep her safe. It was a first, and it was something Serena would love getting used to.
INDENTSerena felt like a child playing dress-up back at home, having heard stories about that sort of thing from other residents of Holy Island prison. Some of the criminal's children's would wear oversized clothing and accessories, imitating a role model or beloved figure. Usually in the stories, they would mention how the little boys that wore hats too big would tip their chins up and try to see clearly through the bottom of the hat, at the same time trying not to trip over their large shoes. That's what Serena felt like, trying not to trip over the multiple crossing feet as well as her own, while peering from under the hat, head bent back to give her a better view of things. Just for extra support, the teenaged female took gentle hold of Tomas's arm as he stepped ahead. Honestly, she liked the idea of Festival games, but said nothing, knowing she wouldn't be heard over the other vices of carnival folk. Instead, she took her seat. For a few moments, she enjoyed the spinning property of the circular chair, having fun with just that until the ring of the bell declared the start of the game. The sudden bell startled Serena though, causing her to jump and shifting the hat more forward into her face, which completely blacked her out for a half a moment. Half a moment was all Toma needed to get ahead, Serena's ears still working and hearing the sharp squirt of the water. "Wh- Hey!!" Serena said, quickly adjusting the hat to give her the rightful sight she originally had and grasping onto the handle and pressing down onto the button to get the water going. Even after the water was out, she still had to aim, which delayed the teen even more. A look of determination wiped all other expressions off her face, competition to her fullest intent. It would be a miracle if Serena won. Sadly she didn't, which was expected. The female Asian sighed and drooped her arms at the second ringing bell, announcing the end of the game. With one glance at her pole, she could already tell that she was not the victor, it only being filled 3/4 of the way. Serena sent a serious but playful smirk over to the other competitor, tipping her hat and lightening herself with a cheery laugh. "That was so not fair, I want a rematch." Her smile was contagious, being as goofy as it was. She didn't smile often, so really she couldn't tell. Serena scanned through for another interesting game booth, one she knew how to play so she wouldn't have to take the time to learn. Finally one caught her eye. "That one! Let's do that one next!" She pointed towards a booth that rested not too far away. It was the kind of game that had moving targets, usually dressed up into little characters. With baseballs, you'd hit the targets and bonuses and you'd get points. By the time the clock went down to zero, the player with the most points won a prize.
