HEW & PHOENIX
HEW & PHOENIX

Hew reached out and placed his hands over Phoenix's. Breathing steadily he looked the other man in the eye, a stern and determined look on his face. Shifting slightly he found a more comfortable position. "Just start using your power I guess. I'm going to try to feed you some energy." Hew closed his eyes and focused on grounding himself and starting the pull of energy from outside himself. He collected the energy inside himself then after focusing in on the energy signature that told him Phoenix was using his ability he changed the energy collecting in his stomach to match that being used by Phoenix. Slowly he started to feed the energy down his arms, through his hands into Phoenix, hoping Phoenix's mind and body would just instinctively know what to do with it.
Meanwhile, Phoenix was allowing the images that had been just lingering at the edge of his mind to finally filter through, up from the where his fingertips rested and flowing through his body. He could vaguely see the images of trees and people and there was Lee just as he was the night before. And then there was a new presence - a stranger, yet familiar somehow - hovering just over his focus. Phoenix breathed in a strangled gasp; that must be Hew. What the hell was he supposed to do now? Hew hadn't been all that forthcoming with his instructions. He was supposed to somehow just start absorbing, right? He wasn't sure, but he tried to imagine taking the energy into himself as he had imagined absorbing the memories from the objects. Phoenix was surprised to find himself met with the sudden trickle of concentrated energy running down from Hew's hands into his own, flowing, flowing, flowing, then back again. Phoenix's eyes were wide, flicking back and forth, but not seeing the world before him. Like a movie reel, images raced before his eyes: Lee cooking in his noodle shop; an alter-ego named Jinki; Lee standing in a 'cell' in Moonlight prison, Kiyo and another white-haired male beside him - no, no; too far back. Phoenix concentrated on redirecting his focus, less on the cloth and more on the stone, only thinking of the on the previous night. Immediately, he was flooded with images, but not of the park. More memories, a dark-haired boy with his relatives, growing in each consecutive scene until he became a younger version of the man in front of him, committed to an asylum. Too much, too close, too fast; Phoenix ripped himself from those memories, unsure how he had even seen them in the first place. He focused on the park instead, on the dark force that had permeated the area the night before, calming as the images stopped their insistent blurring past him and instead began a steady stream of snapshots of the night's events after Lee had fled the scene. He could feel the energy loop Hew provided mellow between them then gain intensity. Then there was the creature, encased in a young girl's body, calling itself Jadis, surrounded by a grouping of three falling to their knees before the thing (woman?). The creature paced like a villain, promising impossible things, bidding the followers to complete a mission - kill the man, Angelo Rizzo. And then, suddenly the scenery changed, without Phoenix's direction, to a street, a man gun in hand, another laying bloody on the ground, a girl, injured but alive. Another shift, faster this time, focused upon the hot springs, on three specific people in the steaming water - the man who had completed Jadis's mission and a light-haired woman, both members of the meeting the night before and - most surprising of all - Kiyo.
Hew's eyelids were rapidly blinking as the images raced through his mind. This was new, not something he'd ever experienced before but somehow it seemed getting on a bicycle after years of not riding and remembering you leared when you were a kid. He was suddenly haunted by the memories of his past. Brief images of his childhood and his family, followed by memories of his internment at the asylum. The horrid experiences of the time forcibly being replayed in his mind. He didn't know if Phoenix saw what he saw and a part of him hoped he didn't. After a few moments the images seemed to slow then freeze on the park. He steadily increased the flow of energy between himself and Pheonix as the transfer seemed to smooth over. He could see Jadis' arrival, see the three go towards the crater. He saw and heard what transpired between them, seeing them fall to their knees infront of Jadis. He heard Jadis' commands to her followers, heard the threat on Angelo. The images shifted and he saw a man lying on the ground, blood pooling around him. A flash to another image and hew could see the dead man and injured girl. The scene changed again this time of the hot springs, three people in the water, one Hew remembered from Lee's and the other two as the followers of Jadis. He didn't know what to make of it, just that there was an overwhelming importance in preventing this new person from joing Jadis. All of a sudden Hew lost control, the energy flow ceased and he collapsed backwards into his armchair. Blood flowing from his nose and the whole room spinning uncontrollably, horrendous overwhelming pain took hold in Hew's brain. He couldn't think, couldn't move, couldn't do anything. After a few moments he regained enough composure to stammer out "Lee get to the hot springs, there's a guy there accompanied by a light haired girl and another male, the guy who was at your shop. Stop him from joining them. Get him away from them or something bad is very likely to happen."
By the time he had gotten to this most recent memory of the hot springs, the intensity of the loop had grown so much it strained against the imaginary walls of Phoenix's will. A slight pain began to build as the pressure did until the entire thing snapped like a rubber band pulled too tight then released. The flickering world provided by the items disappeared and Phoenix was harshly brought back to the reality of Hew's living room which twisted and turned more than a room should be allowed. His head felt as if something had exploded in his brain, which might not have been too far from the truth as blood streamed from his nostrils. There was too much noise which directly translated into pain; Phoenix was sure that was Lee shouting something, but was too disoriented by the pouding in his head to make any sense of the unintelligible sound the other man was making. He curled in on himself, arms crossed over his eyes, willing the insistent presence overhead to disappear. Across from him, Hew was saying something, something about going to the hot springs - "K-Kiyo." Phoenix rapsed. 'S Kiyo."
Hew slummped back into the arm chair again and grabbing his shirt and pulling it up to his face he tried to stop the flow of blood and ignore the pain in his head. The pounding in his ears was slowly abating, but not quick enough to make Hew feel any better. When he could finally speak again without worrying about stammering, he exclaimed, "Let's not try that again for a awhile, a night of debauchery doesn't have repercussions as bad as that was". He leaned forward and let his bloody shirt fall from his face. Slowly he stood up and stumbled to the kitchen to get himself and Phoenix some tylenol for the pain. He dug the pills out of a drawer and pulled two bottles of water out of the fridge. Making his way back to the armchair he popped open the bottle and helped himself to a couple before handing the bottle to Phoenix with a bottle of water. He put the pills in his mouth and quickly swallowed them with a gulp from the cold water bottle.
Phoenix stirred from his fetal position on the couch opposite Hew. "Never again." He responded. To say that the consquences of 'a night of debauchery' couldn't compare with what they had just done was a grievous understatement. He watched as Hew somehow found the energy and willpower to move himself from his armchair and to a room beyond Phoenix's vision. There was some noises, then Hew reappeared with some tablets and a bottle of water for each of them, which he gratefully accepted. Phoenix popped the medicine into his mouth quickly, then took a sloppy gulp from the bottle, spilling down his shirt and not even caring (he had blood all over himself anyway.) The next few moments were spent just evening his breathing; he had never had much tolerance for pain.
