The first to speak up in regards on what to do next, who agreed with Theresa that they should start moving and discuss things on route making the point that discussing their mission here was probably not the best option given the amount of locals at the inn. Willow had only been listening to the others speak, not wanting to butt in and was more then willing to start moving if that is what the others wanted. Although she hated to leave someone behind, it was his responsibility to be at the inn on time and he would hopefully catch up soon, well she wanted to believe that rather then think on the possibility that he was already dead like their guide Sulia had stated rather coldly.

Willow stood up being the last of the group to leave just in front of Sulia. The first thing that the girl Rhine said to her was in regard to her abilities, and she was spot on Willow was not skilled in close combat and she was not yet ready to bring her bo-staff on a mission, even if she had brought it, she was only meant to use it for self defense and her trainer had told her that against the trolls it would be no use.

“They are weak against fire and their movement is slow.” Callen had begun explaining the trolls to them, Willow was amazed at her ability to cope with so many people asking her questions at once, if it were her Willow was sure she would just get flustered.“But, they are strong, quick to react, very well built and very stubborn.” “You can track them by their footprints, their loud footsteps, their noises. When they sleep, they melt with their surroundings, making it hard to see them. I don’t know how sensitive your senses are, but the best way to track them is by their stench.” .

Willow made a mental note of everything she had said, the last part in particular as her sense of smell was fairly good because of her time spent identifying flowers. A stench that could be smelt from miles was good as that meant they would have time to gather as a group before heading in to fight them and Willow would have time to activate her shields due to their movements being slow, she couldn't get too confident yet though they were still extremely tough from the sounds of it and although they are slow their reaction time could enable them to get the better of the group if they aren't careful.

When Callen answered the question on whether or not she herself had fought trolls, the way she responded sounded sad in a way, something Willow couldn't help but notice, this gave her some uneasy feelings or rather brought back old feelings from when they first arrived. In order to go home they had to kill beings like the trolls, supposedly evil creatures that were terrorizing the kingdom, what they were doing was good but to Willow it didn't feel that way it felt wrong to end another living being life and if anything her powers reflected that, she would keep these feelings hidden in order to not hinder the group but she knew at night they would be with her as she slept.

They next headed to a close by market, where they got a flying car to their destination. While on route the group explained where there strengths lied "um well like Rhine had stated my strengths aren't in combat, my abilities are protective I am able to create shields in order to block oncoming attacks and can also heal injuries although my instructor informed me that healing magic might not work on all of you so I can also tend to wounds." Willow said, this being the first she had actually spoken since Sulia and Callen had met them at the inn. The ride was about an hour long most of their conversation was spent on discussing strengths and weaknesses and basic ideas on the battle ahead so when they got their they didn't really have a clear idea on what to do next.

"Maybe we should track them first, find out whereabouts they are first before discussing on how to approach them, after all if we don't know their location then we can't make a definite plan of action, well I mean that's what I think anyway" Willow wasn't sure if they would agree to her idea or not, it might have seemed like a good start to her but the others might think it terrible and she doubted that the guides would help them in this matter, after all it was up to them.

Scott had never ridden, let alone seen a horse before Earwa. Still, he had been trained to ride once scouting had become his focus. He found the whole thing rather calming. The steady warmth and breathing beneath him gave the same sensation he imagined others got from physical contact with people. He had no use for people, but an animal typically used for a distinct purpose felt safe. Reassuring. He was the master here.

As they traveled, Scott's task was essentially to watch. Watch left, watch right, ahead and behind. There was little to see as they were mostly in plains and farmland. After a time the river finally came into view. He passed an intricate display of trees. In a world full of magic and wonder, this was either a source of power or some fools joke many years ago. He made a note of the location either way.

As he he crossed the river, he took a moment to water his horse and himself. He ran the cool water over his head, shivering slightly from the crispness of it. He thought about very little today, focusing on watching for signs of trouble. More trees had started up on this side of the river, so potential risks were beginning to unfold. He found more tracks for animals, mostly prey creatures like rabbits and deer. Surprisingly he saw no wolf tracks, though they may have preferred to stay off the main path. Too many other meat eater scents for their tastes. The path itself was slowly devolving in care, so as he reached the edge of a full blown forest he tied his horse to a branch for the others to collect.

Proceeding on foot, Scott moved into the trees and brush. Signs he had never seen before were mounting, and only a few minutes later he came to a recently felled tree and a swath of destruction. He decided that with how fresh this devastation was, he would enter Shadow Form even if Alec were currently watching him. The risk was too high not to. He followed the path, hearing what he imagined an elephant sounded like, moving northeasterly from the direction Scott himself was heading. A few minutes more and he was on top of the dead creature, and all noise was gone.

He released his magic and crouched down to inspect the creature. It was larger than anything he had see in person, like a bear that had grown more of a humanoid frame. Worse still, as he walked around the area to inspect the final battle, it became clear to him that this one had fought an even larger one. Alec would have felt him stop, assuming he kept with or caught up to him after Shadow Form, which meant the others would be riding straight to him at this point.

Not one for leisure, Scott began inspecting the behemoth. Most of the musculature, though over sized, matched a human setup. All the tendons existing where they would on his own frame, but as the drew his saber and tested the skin he found something troubling. He waited for the others, saber out, and when they arrived he spoke calmly.

"I have two things to say that may interest you. Well, one thing to say, and one to show. This one is smaller than the one that killed it, and also..." He turned calmly and swung the saber leisurely, slicing the end over the skin. On a human, or even most creatures, the sharpness of the blade would have been enough to slice skin and some muscle. On this the swing produced little more than a scratch. He then gripped the weapon more firmly and swung harder, this time breaking skin but no visible muscle. Then he swung his weapon as though it were a golf club, with form and strength, and even then barely cut into muscle.

"We are in some trouble, I think."

The first mission was a catastrophe. Both groups couldn’t fight as a team and their lack of experience in combat and their power put them in defeat. All were injured and they had to be rescued by their guardians. They were brought in a safe place and were healed by a healer sent by the King. However, some were taken to the castle, without the others noticing, as they were all still unconscious or in deep sleep.

“After two days of rest, you stand up with aches all over your body. Some of you had more scars and pain and some less. You find yourself in a wooden cottage with familiar and unfamiliar faces, also lying on warm blanket. You question what happens and get familiar with the unfamiliar ones. Soon, two guardians stepped in the room and asked for your well-being. They introduced themselves: “Sulia” and “Callen”. Both of them explained what happened. That some of the group had to be sent back to the Kingdom, because they were heavily injured. And that the two groups had been put together to a new one. Many questions if there are more groups around, but the guardians can’t answer: they don’t have enough information.

After every question had been answered, they announce you the next mission: Goblins near the swamp. They had been robbing everyone who came near this forest. It’s up to them to change that. They also tell you that members from the former groups will be joining them when they are better.

This time, the guardians will help them create a strategy. ”

It was hard to say what was worse, the crushing defeat or the unavoidable shame.

                                                    Nope, actually it was both.

It was now painfully obvious how unprepared she and her compatriots were. Most of Lethe’s groupmates were shuttled back off to the castle for recovery, and she could do very little in the ways of help. As she watched their injured bodies being carted off for transport, Lethe stood by in silent repentance.

She had thought it would be a fun ride in Earwa, that things would come easily to her. It wasn’t that she didn’t realize that there would be hard work involved, since she did work very hard in getting to where she was now. But even so, the full extent of her hubris and overestimation of herself came at her like an anvil squishing a tomato. All at once, her happy bubble of expectations were squashed and she was forced to come to the very heavy realization that their situation was very dangerous, that the joy of experience shouldn’t have been the extent of her Earwan lifestyle. Plus, it was very obvious that she wasn’t as good as a water manipulator as she had thought, which also a low blow to her pride. The cherry on top.

She sat by her new groupmates--the surprise that there was another human group in Earwa was muddled amongst the other surprises at the time--and looked around. Everyone’s faces were rather gaunt and unpleasant.

“What now?” she asked, only meaning half to the others. She knew what she had to do. She had to get better with her skills. There needed to be better teamwork. They needed to know more about….everything, really. But where was she to start? Who could they turn to?

                                                    It was depressingly overwhelming.

Lethe just wanted to curl up in the uncomfortably unpleasant, skritchy blanket the came from the stuffy cottage they were in and never leave.

But she looked up at their new advisers, Sulia and Callen, at the news that they would be heading out to fight goblins.

“W-wait!” she said. “Don’t we need to...do more before we do that? We’re all still pretty rattled from our clearly unproductive fights. What makes you guys think we’re ready to go out there with only two weeks of R&R but no additional training? We were horrible out there! I think we should at least consider getting some training before we go out there and get killed.”

Being in trouble was an understatement on Scott’s part because whatever followed shortly after the declaration wrecked the group like watching the Titanic sink on fast-forward. Alphonse wanted to think back over his mistakes, his slip-ups, and the food provisions that he lost but the growing headache would let none of it happen. Or maybe it was the strong zenith sun that pierced through the gaps of the tree branches. With his back on the grass and on a bed of wild flowers, the necromancer rested in the forest by the cottage. He barely had the time to get acquainted with his first group and now he was being thrown into a second group. By the looks of things, the group alternations and death grazes will become part of his routine from now on and where socialization required too much effort, Alphonse concluded that he was best off not trying at all.

He turned his head to look back at the cottage. His neck cried bloody murder and he was back to his resting position. Bringing an arm out and inspecting the bandage, the brunet tested the hand’s mobility. The movements were slow as he was trying to ease into the pain. However, the unbearable pain caused the necromancer to grimace. To appease the great discomfort, Alphonse had his arm rest on his stomach again.

Birds, squirrels, and chipmunks kept him company as they ate out the bag of nuts and seeds that was on his stomach. Whatever conversations these little wild animals were having, they surely soothe his headache. They fought over his snack provisions but he paid heed attention to that, and would occasionally, mind-absently, hold out a walnut to the nearest grateful animal. Quietly, with them, he nibbled on some sunflower seeds. Then Alphonse remembered something of utmost importance. Feeling like the failure that Alphonse truly was, he pulled out his pack of dried meat with the uninjured arm and held it out in the air.

Something swooped down and took it away from his hand. His hazel gaze followed the movement. Only disappointment stomped on his face when the feather coat barely corresponded to what the man had hoped for,
“Huh…You don’t even look as cute nor as dapper as Olive,” the necromancer sighed out as he watched the barred owl snack on salted dried meat. It didn't look too happy about its' meal either. Alphonse closed his eyes and resumed on eating sunflower seeds.

Snow White. If only he was Snow White and slept forever, here, peacefully—without having his body hurt so badly. That way, he could get rid of the guilt of letting down everyone else. But Runa’s absence weighted the most on him; it was a mistake to have her depend on him so much. Was it because he didn’t care enough or didn’t try hard enough? He closed his eyes; he didn’t want to think about it. There was too much effort involved.

“Should we even be out on another mission this early,” he mumbled to himself. More importantly, "I forgot to eat my pie." At least he was still alive to eat. He had Alec and the guides to thank for.

Things happened? Alec guessed... His mind was still so foggy, it was hard to
concentrate on anything. Time and placement had lost most meaning after recent
events, and Alec found himself detached from reality, running away from
responsibilities, again. The world hummed and buzzed around him like city lights in
the distance; a flickering sea of florescent windows dimming and glowing, hiding the
magnitude of the lives within. A tiny voice in his head reminded him that his vacation
was soon coming to an end, and reality was waiting... Alec promptly dismissed it.

It all seemed so far away from him, hiding on the roof of the cottage watching the
clouds from under the shade of a strategically overlooking tree branch. The trunk
of the aging red maple had once been an adequate away distance from the cottage,

solitary escapist mentality. The other knew he was around as he would show up
for meals every so often when he wasn't stumbling over things at the dead of night.

Sabriel had broken her enchantment on him, it turned out, as he had quickly returned
to his nocturnal habits; yet the practice lingered in him as he found himself awake
by dawn itching to be active. Climbing with ease was a skill he'd rather like to keep.
That was another thing, he supposed. He wasn't all too injured, physically. The others
weren't so lucky. For a brief moment Alec recalled the battle and his stomach began to
churn. He draped the ebony blanket they offered him upon arrival for comfort; imagining
it looked like he had very very long hair now that his natural coloring had returned.
The thought eased him a bit and he could once again refocus on the passing clouds.

The past few days the seer had forcibly dulled his senses, taking notice of no one
and giving little to no communication cues; blindly following orders given to him.
He had rejected any forms of contact from others, others being Alphonse and the
new 'guardians', neither of whom cared to play hide-and-seek with a gloomy kid.
Most of his teammates were safe; but not all of them, and Alec will forever
                  consider it his fault. If only he had been stronger and able to keep his vision;
maybe none of this would've happened.

The truth of the matter was that the seer had drained himself before the battle
even began. Tracking Scott was no easy task and Alec had done so in the hopes
of making camp as soon as they reached the meadow. However reality was far
less forgiving. Somewhere along the way he had fainted on his horse and the
other's failed to take notice, before it was too late. In and out of consciousness,
he remembered someone protecting him... Lauralie... he didn't awaken in time.
Some part of him remembers being lucid enough to direct Runa's bow to a
weak point on the Troll, allowing enough time for the team to make their escape...
but that part doesn't have much merit. He still failed his team.

His black hair fell over his face, concealing it as he clutched tighter onto his blanket.
                  I wasn't fast enough. I'm never enough..

For the first time in two days, he let his mask of apathy slip and allowed his emotions
to over take him. Beneath him he could hear the other's discuss a new mission and
disintegrated at the thought of experiencing it all over again.

Just after, they announced the new mission; uproar arose, which was expected. Callen knew exactly what they were going through, but she can imagine the difficult path they had to take until they can digest and get over it all, as they were older and were accustomed of a better and comfortable life. Not like Callen, who saw the upfront danger and death in an early age. She gazed at everyone, but there was no pity in her eyes. A bit of acknowledgement and less shyness. They somehow lost their special aura: was it their innocence she distinguished? Well, that was gone. As she looked around the room, she noticed that two humans were missing. She slightly leaned to Sulia. “Two humans are missing. I will check them out. Ok?” Callen mumbled into her ear, before going out the cottage.

This will not be the first time Callen had to seek out some of the humans, wandering on their own, wanting to be left alone. Such behaviours were normal for beginners. A new fact she learned recently: they must have a peaceful live, in their world or else they wouldn’t be this fragile. “We actually don’t know much of their own world. Maybe we should be more considerate.” Callen thought to herself. They too, took a great part of the mission’s failure. Maybe, the communication was the key. Callen sighed. She didn’t know how she’ll succeed with her communication skills. The first person she seek out was Alphonse. He was often outside, recumbent on the ground. This time she found him in a flowerbed. Slowly she approached him. “Alphonse, was it?” Callen asked and took a seat next to him. This is the first time; she ever got near to one of the humans. Somehow, she gets bolder, the longer she stayed with them. “How are your injuries?” Callen asked, after a few minutes of silence, while watching the owl nimble on the dried meat. She felt her stomach grumble a little bit. Oh, right, she hadn’t hunt for a while.

I should have been stronger. A thought that had been going through Willow's mind almost on repeat since she awoke in that cottage.

Out of both groups Willow had been the first to wake up, having collapsed mainly due to physical strain from overusing her magic during the mission, and when she did the reality of what happened made her heart sink. Learning there was another group was surprising yes but the shock came after hearing what happened during the first mission and out of her entire group only she and Atticus were here. For the time that came after Willow had only given a small introduction to the new group members the rest of it she had spent either by herself or if she was with anyone, she stuck with Atticus, who among all the doom and gloom had kept his cheerful attitude probably in the hopes that it would cheer up the others.

Willow on the other hand well it was an entirely different story. Looking back at the battle, she remembered the major mistake that she made, she had caught a sent but just as she was looking out for the trolls, the ground beneath her crumbled and she fell down right into the trolls den. She didn't have time to think before having to put a shield up to block an upcoming attack, she was joined by her teammates not long after but after that it's all a bit hectic. From what she can recall, her teammates had begun battle with the trolls, Willow healing those when needed, except for Rhine who at that point Willow had realized couldn't be healed by magic. Things seemed to be going ok, at first but then more trolls appeared from above chucking huge rocks from above and while Willow did her best to deflect them the strain on her body was starting to take it's toll, she had managed to create a shield around all her teammates momentarily blocking the boulders but soon the shield weakened and she remembered coughing up some blood, after that things began to blur and before she knew it she has woken up here only familiar with three faces, Atticus, Callan and Sulia the last of which would probably ground down on her and Atticus more then anyone else.

All of them were now sitting in the cottage together, well all bar two their names Alec and Alphonse if Willow had it right, most were sat together but Willow was sat in the corner. She had taken some wilted flowers and put them in a pot, currently in the process of practicing her healing magic on them, working specifically on controlling the amount of magic she used so she didn't use an unnecessary amount, not wanting a repeat of last time especially now they had been given a new mission. Willow thought Lethe was right, given the outcome of the first mission, could they really head out so soon especially seeing as they were unfamiliar with each other. The other group still had most of it's members but that wouldn't change the sudden loss and addition of two more, and she and Atticus except for each other were only familiar with Sulia and Callan, well it probably wouldn't hold Atticus back but Willow really couldn't bare letting another group down like she had last time.

As Callan got up to find the two missing members, Willow got up and sat by the group, taking a seat by Atticus for now.

He had his mouth wide open, readily to catch the pecan he tossed in the air. With a bit of practice, he seemed to have gotten the hang of it. Not alone, the little forest furies joined in the game, stealing his treat in mid-air. The sound of the cottage door creaking open halted their little gag. A few wild animals scurried off at the approaching individual, the more courageous ones sat by Alphonse’s bag of provisions. They were polite enough to not steal anything away. “I’m sorry, I wish I could remember your name,” the necromancer calmly replied as she took a seat beside him. Alphonse gave the figure no more than a glance before resuming to his snacks.

Upon the mention of his injuries, Alphonse’s grunted inaudibly. Pain was subjective. It was only a matter of getting used to it. Just like getting used to killing non-human specimen and getting accustomed to group alternations. With time, everything will fall in place.
“Bearable and quickly recovering.” It was a shame he could not tolerate white magic; it would have made the healing process much faster. Still, there was some above-average healing rate; he couldn’t recall recovering this fast in the past. There was a slight hint of amazement as he stared at the bandage work. “I should be alright. I’m getting used to it.” To some extent anyway.

Their moment of silence was cut short as he heard a familiar sound of a growl. The brunet stared down on his stomach, looking square into the chipmunk prying into the pistachio shell. Well, it wasn’t him nor the little mammal. His eyes trailed off to his female company and nonchalantly held out a piece of the dried meat he caught her looking at earlier. There was ample of snack to share.
“Here.”It would be easier for him to remember her name if she kept the habit of always being hungry. It was one of the easier ways for him to get acquainted with Olive.

Alphonse settled the bag of seeds and nuts on the grass and pushed himself up with his elbows. He grimaced from the slight discomfort but he managed to stretch his lips into a smile nonetheless.
“Thanks for the concern…. Am I holding the group up?” There was this strange habit of people coming to pick him up, yet he wasn’t the one who was blind or anything. “I’ll try not to make it a habit.”

“Bearable and quickly recovering.” - “I should be alright. I’m getting used to it.”

Callen nodded. That was the right mind-set. Stay strong, even when you’re mentally or physically hurting. There was no other way to survive in this world, from her standpoint. Yet, there was this hesitation she couldn’t explain. Did she truly believed that? Is this how it should be? A being created to kill? Callen bit her under lip. This was not the right time to be lost in her thoughts. She had a job to do. “Here.”

Callen looked at what was given to her. “Cooked meat. Yuck.” Callen thought, but took it with gratitude, not wanting to hurt his feelings. “Thank you.” She nibbled at it first and like always, it was tasteless and too hard, but ate it anyway. Same like predator, she ripped the pieces one by one, champing and swallowing noisily. Busy as she was, she didn’t even notice Alphonse, pushing himself up. Only when she heard him talk again, she gave him her full attention back. “No, you aren’t.” Callen swallowed the last piece. “It’s important to be alone.. sometimes.” Callen concurred his actions, though it may not be comforting for a human being or a normal Eärwan residents. Who would want to be alone in such situations? No one. “But this time, I need to bring you in. Sulia will explain the next mission.” Another silence. “Don’t worry. You’ll get used to it soon.” Callen silently consoled him, but it was rather a hard, cold fact than warmth. And so, they both stood up and went into the cottage. “Alphonse is here.” Callen noted, before heading up to the roof. He was often there, but even if he wasn’t, she could detect him easily by his scent.
Soon afterwards, Callen came back alone. She shook her head, when Sulia saw her coming down. “He won’t come down.”

The last mission had become a blur to Atticus. He remembered seeing Willow fall from a crumbled ledge into the troll encampment, that was when he and the others had jumped down to save the girl. The fight between the trolls and their group was catastrophic. Atticus was too worried about distancing himself from the others to avoid having them injured, but only found himself even more surrounded by the trolls-- this made it impossible for him to not get caught up in his own explosions. He may have taken down quite a few trolls, but he remembered the pain of getting burned by his own magic. Then it went black.

When Atticus had awoken two days ago, he was riddled in burns. His body would’ve been scarred by the injures if it wasn't for the healer sent to them by the King. He had learned that most members of his group had been sent back to the castle due to their extensive injuries. They had failed their mission and had only survived thanks to Sulia and Callen. Now Atticus and Willow were to combine with the other group of humans that had been formed by the King. He had no idea that there were other humans besides the one that consisted of his group. He couldn't help but wonder what else the King had kept hidden from him and he others, but that question would have to be asked later.

Though Atticus had kept his cheerful demeanor in front of everyone, it was all fake and ingenuine. He was brooding on the inside, reflecting on how badly he did on the first mission because he was scared of his own magic. He was beating himself up for allowing such cowardice to affect him so badly. Atticus had begun feeling as helpless as he was when he was a child, within the death hold of his parents and their high expectations. Dear God, how he hated that feeling.

With the announcement of a new mission, Atticus had surprisingly remained quiet. He listened as Lethe, a girl from the other group had spoken. He agreed with some of things she pointed out, not everyone was ready to head back out on another mission after getting their asses handed to them by the first one. Deep down, he hated to admit it but he was afraid. What if he couldn't control his powers? What if this group failed horribly again? And what was the point in getting to know the others, if they could be easily separated and replaced? His knee shook as these thoughts played through his mind. Atticus hadn’t been rattled this bad for quite some time. If anyone had been able to read his mind and see what was currently going on, they would see how much of a mess he was becoming-- even he thought of himself as uncool at the moment.

Just as Willow sat down next to him, Atticus got up from his seat. “I’ll be right back. I just need a bit of air,” he said, reassuringly patting the white haired girl on the head. He just need a quick minute to himself to clear his head and get rid of his negativity-- or it would eat him alive.

Once he was outside, Atticus distanced himself from the cottage. He pulled off one of the gloves that he had always worn, before reaching into his pocket to retrieve one of his throwing daggers. While he stared at the weapon, Atticus began to focus his explosion magic into the blade-- as if the magic was his doubt and fears, he allowed it to flow out of him and into the dagger. While still focused on keeping the weapon from exploding in his hand, Atticus took a deep breath, before throwing the dagger as far and high as he could. He watched as the object flew to it’s highest point in the air, before he let out a yell and the dagger exploded with loud boom. Though it was a simple action, it helped Atticus greatly, he considered his negative thoughts as gone and destroyed along with the dagger. Atticus didn't like being controlled in anyway, even if it was by his own emotions. He felt a bit lighter with this.

“What the hell did you do!” he heard Sulia shout from the cottage door.

Atticus laughed as he returned to the cottage entrance and faced the stern guardian. “Just needed some air, and I feel a whole lot better now. But thanks for worrying about me, Miss Sassy,” he said with a playful wink at Sulia.

“Get back into the cottage and try not blow anything else up, you moronic human,” the guardian said obviously annoyed, before giving Atticus a swift kick on his backside.

Atticus only smiled and rubbed his back end, as he returned to his seat next to Willow. “What you were saying before, um, Lethe was it? Well, you're right,” Atticus began, as he stared at some of his new teammates, “We all failed our first mission, because we weren't ready and are inexperianced. Obviously a few months of training when we first arrived in Earwa, wasn't enough to prepare us for what happened. But I believe that not matter how much extra training we do now, it will never come close to an actual battle with our life on the lines. Luckily we survived the first ordeal, we should use this to learn from, so it never happens again. Unlike everyone else, I only have one teammate left from my original group, and I’m sure as hell not going to let her down.”

After Atticus had finished speaking, Callen had returned to the cottage with one of their missing teammates. “Welcome back Miss Shy. I’d like to hear what you and Miss Sassy have planned for us in this next mission.” Though Atticus’s voice was his usual playful tone, he was waiting and willing to listening intently.

It was too quick for Runa to recall everything. She slowly woke up, her first thoughts being where she was and why it was so silent.

For at least a few hours she found herself in some sort of tower-house place, now surrounded by trees outside. Olive was perched on her shoulder as she kept her heavily-bandaged left arm glued to her side. During the attack she ended up using too much magic in her arrows... And missing more often then she thought she would.

Of course, she could not give up looking. And right then, only about a few minutes after starting to bump into trees, Runa realised that she was acting stupid. Closing her eyes for a second, she focused what energy she had left in her revived body and tried to detect any living magic creature... Or person... Nearby. Luckily, the trees helped as she detected a very familiar and depressed male nearby. Alec.

Runa smiled in relief to see at least someone alive. Maybe he would also lead her to the others. She turned her attention to her bird companion, "Olive, fly up ahead and find Alec and Alphonse. Let them know I am alright." Olive shot up to the sky and Runa followed closely along the ground.

The archer finally got to the tree Alec was on and rested her hand on it, his strong gloomy presence above her. "Alec?" She called out to get his attention, her voice showing concern. "We may have failed, but we are not defeated. If we were defeated, we would all quit now. Until we are eternally defeated to the grave, we should press on and on until we can no longer move or fight." She paused, choosing her words carefully to try to get her depressed friend back in the good spirits he used to be. Olive, however, had other ideas as she pestered with Alphonse. (Feel free to use you imagination...it'll be hilarious.)
"I may be blind, but I see a lot more in the future and being able to shoot my bow and become a master archer, then sulking in the dark about being blind and being unable to see. In fact, if it was not for you telling me to shoot last-minute, we would possibly all be dead. You saved us." Runa smiled, knowing it would cheer the male up.

(OOC: I extremely apoligize for not putting this in a proper format... I am a major rush and with 4 tests tomorrow, putting this all proper and Olive-approved has to wait a little bit. Once again, I sincerely apologize for my un-neatness.))

Like the others, Scott had spent a great deal of time focusing on the failures of their missions. That they all weren't killed was a miracle in and of itself. It was a difficult task for him, having suffered a concussion that made the details after a certain point very fuzzy. He remembered showing the group the skin issue on the corpse, and the discussions that followed. Some had wanted to retreat for the day to strategize and prepare, while others wanted merely to get it over with. Scott had no personal preference, though precaution was a necessary part of his nature. The discussion grew to an argument, and then to a fight, which drew the targets to them. When not running, Trolls were impressively light on their feet.

Caught unaware, a more intelligent opponent would have wiped them out in one fell swoop, but the Trolls were little more than children in their capabilities, and as such chose to charge in with a roar. A roar that ultimately saved lives. Scott had immediately activated his magic and dodged over the corpse just as a large wood club smashed the ground he had been standing on. Another troll barreled in for Alec and Lauralie, with Alec showing no signs of even realizing a battle had started. Lauralie had protected him with her summoning magic, and though her summoned warrior was indeed powerful, the sheer force of a charging Troll had still made it to the pair, with a clear focus on the girl who had attacked back. Scott hadn't seen what came next, though having seen the girls injuries later he could imagine.

Scott's focus had instead shifted to Lethe, who had let out a shriek while repelling the attacks of a third Troll with her own magic. She had barely conjured the water needed to change the trajectory of the Trolls club, with the water cascading to the ground just after. Scott didn't think she would be able to do so a second time, so as the Troll raised its arm again he moved in. Logically he should have simply retreated and left them all to their fate. He was never meant to be in combat for the most part, so that would make sense. Still, given the personality he had put forth, retreat would have made no sense if he wasn't dragging at least one of them with him, and so he intervened. The Trolls second swing met with Scott's saber, angling the attack away from both himself and Lethe, though barely. His arms ached from the sheer force of it. Doubting he could pierce the beasts heart by force alone, Scott sent a spike of shadow through the Trolls arm, severing the necessary tendons for holding its weapon, and up into its chest. Scott was glad that the bladed magic seemed unhindered by the thickness of skin and muscle, but by taking out the tendons he had missed the heart. For his efforts, the beasts offhand came round with such force that Scott found himself in the air from a blow to the head.

From there it was hazy. He saw a lot of black and white, with bursts of vivid images in between. A Troll about to kill him, black, Alec, white. More white, then Runa firing upon the Troll before it ended Scott's life. Alec must have gotten the wherewithal to direct her. From there it was mostly images of Killian. Since the beginning he had not even seen Alphonse, though the other man's injuries spoke for his own conflict. Were it not for Killian, and Alec directing Runa as best he could, he would be dead. Had Lauralie failed to protect Alec in that first attack, he would also be dead. Scott did not like that his fate had, for a brief time, been entirely in another's hand.

Now Scott sat, silent amidst the others. He wore a frown, another rare alignment between the inner and outer worlds his lifestyle created. His shadow lay before him, and he calmly kept forcing spikes and spirals to come out of it following the movement of his finger. He had been doing this since he regained consciousness, lucky to not have received worse injuries as his intolerance for healing magic could have kept him away for some time. In so doing he found he could use the shadows for longer if they were following a physical guide, but it was still not far in before the headaches and exhaustion began. Two nights in a row he had gone to bed not peacefully, but by simply keeling over from one too many manipulations. He had not spoken a word to anyone until the new Guardians spoke of a new mission.

He had been scowling since he had awoken, but as he finally spoke, a deep and seething rage filled his words with bite, "If you wish to kill us, then kill us. We had some idea of who we were with before, and still we got spanked. Now we have even less cohesion, and we are raggedy as hell. I'm probably in the best shape here, and I still can't hear right out of my right ear and get random migraines. How the hell are we supposed to fight anything?"

He found he had stood in the midst of this speech, which surprised even him. Still his finger had kept moving, and the shadows who followed its ebb and flow had a decidedly spiked appearance to them. He forced his finger to stop, swayed a bit as the exhaustion took free reign of his body, then looked about to the others in the room. His eyes were sharp as daggers now. "We've no need to listen to these people. We didn't ask to come here, and cleaning up their countryside is hardly our task. I say we stay here and to hell with their missions."

He was mad, oh yes, but not at the Guardians or the King they represented. In the most simplest of terms, he was mad for two reasons. They had failed quite spectacularly, and during which he had personally failed to kill a thing. In a world where his obsession could be indulged more freely, he had failed to kill a thing.

Before Callen or Sulia could even start explaining the mission, another issue occurred.

Callen took everything Scott said with a light shoulder. That was typical for someone who wan’t used in fighting. No reason to get involved in his emotions. However, his unconscious anger, forming itself in his shadows, creating a momentary threat, put Callen into a very alarming and combat stance. Her expressions turned hard and cold, threatening, as if saying “Don’t you dare”. The gentle, shy and awkward girl was gone. Luckily, it didn’t come to a physical fight, as Scott continued to argue with words. Still Callen didn’t lower her guard, as the spiked form shadow was still present. Callen wasn’t angry. Worse, she was emotionless und unpredictable. Ready to attack a human being, if he would ever use his powers against them and may even hurt the others.

“There is no escape.” Callen thought, but didn’t throw that into the open. She remained inactive, waiting for the other’s reply.

The world that the humans came from, was it such a peaceful and carefree place that the humans could be broken so easily after the failure of their first mission. The past few days Sulia had watched the humans as they recovered. She was beginning to get sick of seeing the look of self pity and disappointment on their faces. One failure and their spirits were broken already, what weaklings. Sulia wasn’t going to coddle them or let them know that things were going to be okay. This was the harsh reality of the world, this was a lesson that they would have to learn-- just like she did all those years ago.

Sulia had seen the looks on all the humans’ faces when she had announced that there was going to be another mission. She knew there were going to be more objections than cheers. Though she wasn't surprised, when the human named Atticus had his little outburst. Unlike the others, he had gotten over his pain and disappointment rather quickly-- but on the other hand he was a simple minded idiot. She guessed being stupid had its perks.

The guardian had remained quiet while the humans Lethe and Scott voiced their frustration and doubts about being assigned to another mission so quickly. Trying to use logic and reason to hide their cowardice, this only made Sulia think even less of the humans than she already did. What did the King see in these creatures anyways? They were just a group of whining babes. She was tired of their bitching and moaning-- things could've gone worse for them, but they obviously didn't seem to think of that option at all.

The horned woman didn't move from her spot, until she saw her halfling friend becoming hostile and alert at Scott’s shadow movements. Slowly making her way to Callen, Sulia placed a reassuring hand on her friend’s shoulder, “Let me handle this.” Sulia found it strange, usually it was Callen trying to calm Sulia down, to keep a violent rampage from occurring-- now their roles had become reversed for the moment. If these humans’ lives didn’t mean so much to the King, Sulia would have struck down Scott the moment his shadow had begun to move. No questions asked. But since she King had ordered her to play nice with the humans, she had to do as he asked.

Sulia was now standing in front of Scott, she was only a mere inch or two away from him. “Kill all of you? Trust me boy, if we wanted to, you would've died on your first mission. But your guardian, Killian risked his life to save your pathetic, sorry asses,” she said, her tone even, but the dryad’s eyes had the amount of malice that matched those of Scotts eyes-- as if she was daring the human to strike her and see what would happen next. “Do you want to know why all of you got ‘spanked’? It’s because you are weak and can’t properly control your powers yet. Now that you know those cold facts, quickly register them into your minds and learn from them," Sulia coldy explained, then chuckled before remarking, “Unless you wish for more of your teammates to take blows for you?”

She then stepped aside from Scott and turned to face the others. “He’s right. You don't have to listen to us and you don't have to go on these missions. But what will you do, sit in here and rot away? The King was desperate enough to called you all here to aid him and all of Earwa. But if you really feel that you can't do this anymore and want to return home, do you think it will be that easy?" before Sulia continued with her explanation, she gestured to bracelets that everyone was wearing, “Those bracelets need to collect the magical essences of the evil creatures within Earwa for you to be able to return to your world. You may think of the King as selfish for calling you all here to help, but he was thinking about your well being as well. As you complete these missions, the closer you will be to returning home. It is like killing two birds with a stone. If you don't want to remain here anymore, you have no choice but to continue the missions so you can leave, there is no other way. But if it will pacify you all, I will ask the King to give you all more time to recover after this mission. Just like you all are still learning about Earwa and our ways, the King is still trying to learn more about you.”

Though Sulia sounded like a genuine and loyal subject of the King, while she spoke of him and explained the purpose of the bracelets to the humans-- she was lying about most of it and left out several small details that had not yet been explained to the humans. Her facial expression and vocal tone never gave sign of her deceit away. This was what she was assigned to do, keep the humans going on missions, keep them collecting more essences for the King-- even if it meant deceiving the humans. Sulia didn't care, they meant nothing to her. She was used to lying to others, it was just like breathing now.

“If no one else has anything else to say, I'd like to explain the battle plan Callen and I had devised for this next mission,” Sulia began, waiting for anyone stupid enough to interrupt her. The next few minutes were filled with Sulia explaining to everyone what parts they were to play in the next mission. Atticus would be the main attacker with Scott and Alphonse as his backup. Scott would try to lure and gather the goblins up for Atticus to easily eliminate them altogether. Willow would be focused on healing those injured, and shielding those who couldn’t be healing by light magic. Lethe would take advantage of the swampy waters, to trap the goblin in place with her water manipulation to ensure they would not escape. Runa would remain with Alec and pick off any goblins planning on sneaking up on the group or trying to flee the scene.

After her explanation, Sulia walked over to the door with plans on leaving the cottage for a moment or two. After all that talking and explaining she needed to be alone. She wasn't use to being around so many people for various amounts of time, or speaking as much as she did. But before she left, Sulia turned and spoke to the group one more time. “If some of you are still unsure about wanting to continue with missions, then by all means stay here. But do you really think you can survive in Earwa by yourselves? This is your second chance to make up for that wreck of a first mission, you should take it. But if you are looking for an easy way out...” Sulia then unsheathed one of her twin blades and tossed it on the ground in the middle of the humans, “Go for it.” With that said, Sulia exited the cottage and shut the door behind her.

Before Sulia distanced herself from the cottage, she called up to the two humans who were missing from the meeting and were on the roof, “You two up there, be sure to let the others fill you in on what you missed. Also, the one with clairvoyance, you will be leading the group for this mission. Try not to get everyone killed now.” Sulia didn't care if they bothered to reply to her or not, she needed space at the moment.
