That'd make sense. Here's something that just popped into my head
Artist is friends with Andie, but then starts to change and ends up stabbing her in the back as a way to prove herself to the preps? She takes the spot Niccolo just left open, and then a little down the road Niccolo joins up with the artists. Andie's never forgiven ex Artist for what they did, and hates them and the other Preps because of it?

Just an idea to explain how Niccolo got into the artists so easily, and why Andie hates preps so much.
