Why do you enjoy anime

What is the main reason you got into anime, is it like video games to get out of reality?

part nostalgia, part something that i can't in other media.

I like animation. it appeals to me, especially with my vision->scent synesthesia. bright colors and defined colors smell nice because of that. I also like fiction, especially speculative fiction, and there's a nice range of that in anime. also, an enjoyable story is an enjoyable story. this is regardless of what form of media it takes and which age demographic it is as well. some of my favorite novels are young adult and children's novels because they tell a story better than some of the stuff I've picked off the shelves of the normal fiction and speculative fiction sections of bookstores and libraries.

My brother grow up watching Dragon Ball, then Dragon Ball Z.
Then later on.
I got into Digimon, when Digimon started getting retarded.
I got into Zoids.
I didn't know.
What else was out there until my friends let me borrow some anime of theirs.
After that.
I was hooked.
I got myself into reading manga.

1. Cuteness: I love cute things above everything else. Japan provides all the cute s**t I could ever want.

2. Animation: I love traditional animation but it seems to be going out of style in favor of 3D and Flash animation except in Japan.
