There is no true answer to the riddle. It was meant to be utter nonsense but when fans kept pressing Lewis Carroll for the answer to the riddle he gave an answer that Poe wrote on both. Lewis Carroll was quite influenced by Edgar Allen Poe. Especially with the Jabberwocky.
