Mischievous Sprite's Smirk

Description: An enormous head rose slowly above the waves, gleaming silver in the twilight with a crown of horns and dagger-sized teeth bared at their approach. Chaos erupted on deck.
"Dead ahead! Serpent! Get below!"
"Hard to port!" came the order from above.
"The harpoons! Where's that bloody mage?!"
Jukes dodged a pair of unsheathed blades as the ship lurched, and dashed for the bow. As the monster angled to meet them, he prepared to summon a lightning strike, but the words died on his lips as he realized the horizon was visible through the scaly hide.
"Belay that!" he snarled at the crew. "The beast isn't real! It's one of the sprite's tricks!" He glanced back toward the topsails, but she was nowhere to be seen. Even so, he could have sworn he heard her laughter through the confusion.
