In the eighth movie, Broly is the son of Paragus, and known as the Legendary Super Saiyan. Along with his father, Broly plans to take his revenge on Vegeta, whose father, King Vegeta, ordered him and Paragus to be executed when Broly, as an infant, showed a power level of 10,000, unusually high for even a full grown Saiyan, causing the King to feel threatened by Broly's unusual strength. Broly and Paragus survived the attempt, and escaped from Planet Vegeta before its destruction by Freeza. In the movie, Broly and Paragus lure Vegeta and the others to a distant planet, which will soon be hit by a comet and obliterated. Broly eventually comes face to face with Goku, and his mind immediately snaps, due to a lifelong grudge he holds against Goku (they were born on the same day, and Goku's constant crying kept Broly awake). In his rage, Broly loses his self-control and his sanity, and transforms into the Legendary Super Saiyan. After a heated battle, during which Broly easily bests his opponents, Vegeta manages to lend some of his power to Goku, who uses it to defeat Broly with a single punch.
